Photay’s 'Onism' LP, released last year on Astro Nautico, is a vibrant, tightly woven tapestry of sound that lives and breathes in a language all its own. With careful listening, one can discern all the organic and synthetic elements that constitute its being - a far and deep-ranging spectrum of finely textured sounds both terrestrial and extraterrestrial. Like the album’s namesake, one can almost feel these songs yearning to burst forth from the confines of the record to continue recombinating in an infinite number of ways. With that in mind, Photay chose six different artists to do just that, picking up where he left off and seeing where it might lead them.

Bastard Jazz presents the next instalment of their long running "Tempo Dreams" compilation series! The series calls upon established artists to shine a light on their favourite producers and compile an album of all unreleased music from the emerging & underrated young talents. With Volume 5, Bastard Jazz welcomes the curation of LA's Free The Robots.

This track from LA duo The Breathing Effect really pulls together the current sound of LA's rapidly maturing Beat Scene and the London Jazz scene, both of which pull a lot of inspiration from off-the-cuff jams and DIY mentality. "Waves" fits right in between Thundercat, Flying Lotus, Yussef Kamaal, and the Ezra Collective.
