JUDDER proudly presents the first release in the series of singles and EPs — a "Disposal Ashore" EP by Kapha. Drawing inspirations from UK Bass, both early 2000s and contemporary dubstep, as well as other cutting edge experimental sonics, Kapha enigmatically yet deftly blends rhythms and vibes in this four-tracker. His minimalistic approach to arrangement allows to concentrate on the deep groove and atmospherics, while leaving plenty of space for the core elements, which greatly showcases his distinctive take on music production.

Coventry’s second son of Drum & Bass returns to UVB-76 Music for his first release on the label since 2017’s ‘Pathos’ EP. Two years on, and four tracks strong, ‘The Last Men’ EP delves into the darker caverns of modern jungle, tethering howling pad works to a sturdy hull of abrasive percussive rhythms.

Coarse high end peaks are trussed against bottom end vibrations which are fixated to the ground as three tracks are firmly rooted in the dance while a fourth track is the fallout at trip hop tempo.

Photay and Sam O.B. collide once again for the second of two EPs this year under the moniker Ensemble Entendu. Pastoral Dusk Themes EP evokes images deep and rolling. Lead off ‘Hully Bully’ portrays a nighttime landscape turned into electric jelly jiggling to the beat of forlorn drums. Ensemble Entendu’s take on library music here expands to include the stoic cumbia inflections of ‘Ritmo Antiguo’ and the fourth world ambient reflections of ‘Loon Interlude’ and ‘Mascoma.’ Each track brings a palpable imagined geography, a space within which to think and feel emergent states of departure. ‘Lakeview’ finishes the release with a colorful, astral spaciousness, something like aurora borealis converted into synthesized sound.

Ensemble Entendu began as a collaborative project of Photay and Sam O.B. They set out exploring library music and the tradition of rhythm tracks, emphasizing driving drums and basslines in their stripped down productions. The Brooklyn-based producers are now shaping a music uniquely situated between their already unique solo artistic voices.
