When asked to record a mix for Proton Radio's Amplified series, I decided to showcase some of the Pacific Northwest's talented producers, by including in this mix several original tracks & remixes by the likes of Snapdragon (aka Amie Jane Dabu), Jon Lee, Michael Manahan, Tony H, Luke Mandala, as well as longtime Uniting Souls resident Jordan Strong and new labelmates Alicia and Cantos. Also included in this mix is a remix by DYR (aka Colleen Burns) featuring myself on an original spoken word vocal mantra, written by my partner Xenagogue. These artists' inclusion also highlights  the importance of promoting diversity, not only in the electronic music world, but also in the community at large.

For this mix, I drew inspiration from my life's journey - from my childhood years immersed in the Afro-Caribbean music & culture of my native Bluefields, Nicaragua, to my years as an active member of San Francisco's legendary 1990s electronic music scene, to my experience over the past two decades into present-day as an integral part of Seattle's vibrant and supportive house music community. This month, we are delighted and thankful to be celebrating the 25-year anniversary of Uniting Souls Music. Hope you enjoy this mix and join us in this special  celebration!

UCL student of electronic engineering Ali Issa shares his journey coming to the UK as a refugee on his own at the age of fifteen and how this challenging experience has helped to shape his aspirations to help others. He arrived with limited language skills and was moved to several foster homes before settling into his current residents. His story is inspiring, hope provoking and shows the real power of perseverance and not giving up.

Ranjit Makkuni explores the musical boundaries of the sitar itself, and liberates the instrument from its association with Hindustani classical music, and shows the far reaching impact across world music.
