Nisantashi Primary School are Vlad, Lucy and Mykhaylo from Kiev. This electronic-pop trio embraces weird sounds and holds omnivorous but clearly discerning appetites for mixing disco, funk and dub grooves. Their debut EP is a mix of snappy and moody synth sounds, vintage-tinged bass lines and gritty rhythms.

The selection of tracks is a showcase of moods and influences: from the feverish and psychedelic "Mr. Fingers" with Fumaça Preta's Alex Figueira on drums, to the nocturnal dancefloor gem “Hills”. Hints of dance records from 80’s NYC, synth-based disco and krautrock come through, but an eastern european immediacy and faux-débutant approach brings its own flavor to the table.

While dance music from Kiev might seem surprising, what do we really know about this city's energy? From the place where so many things are happening these days, maybe it’s time to see something else unfold.

Olsen's 'Nektarin 5' is a washed-out ambient house roller of the purest essence. Introspective and lavishly textured, the label says this is music for "the space between", where the dream operator takes control, and "shows you an image of a tree, soft fruit growing… night falls, and the black dog serenade continues." Quavius, the deep south vagabond known for his raw and sophisticated dance collages returns to Lustwerk Music with his second EP for the label, Find Ready. 

While mostly an instrumental affair, Find Ready is an updated glimpse into the producer / rapper’s latest repertoire, ranging from the sunny, Baltimore club-influenced house of “Flo Central” to funky Motor City workouts like “Heaven Is In You” and “Find Ready”. The EP starts off on a high clip with a nostalgic, forward-driving deep house instrumental, “That Beat.”

Quavius dons the mic on three of the seven tracks. “The Gist”, the EPs cornerstone, sounds something like a Rakim-meets-Sensate Focus. The A and B side are each topped off with downtempo Hip-hop. “Let it Rock” and “Fa Sho” are contemporary updates on cloud rap that bleed atmosphere and confidence while revealing Quavius’ knack for tight songwriting and arrangement.
