Following his recent release with Sony, AtalaiA launches Chapters Recordings with 3 tracks that contrast in texture and style but remain cohesive in production.

Rooted in the dance floor, ‘Rest Of The Blessed’ is a deep, pounding track that maintains the uplifting, wandering melodies of AtalaiA’s keyboards throughout.

‘Truth Of Time’ touches on his tribal nature and plays to his strengths in mixing drums while ‘Peruvian Infusion’ evolves and intoxicates under the influence of AtalaiA’s DJ residencies in Ibiza, London and Mykonos.

AtalaiA is named after Ibiza’s island summit. Newcastle born DJ Danny O’Sullivan found his spiritual home here and scored more than 1000 sunsets while becoming a very familiar face in DJ booths across the island from 2007. His relentless creativity has seen him release music on Sony, Stil Vor Talent, Armada, The Soundgarden, KMS and King Street. His debut album ‘Moving Through Shards’ came out in 2021. His background as a studio engineer and radio producer has seen him work with the most popular shows on BBC Radio 1 since 2019. He has embraced the music industry like nobody else and continues to exude his authentic sound with absolute passion and integrity.

AtalaiA conjures up the next release for Chapters Recordings with 3 more curious concoctions. 

Leading with the club focused ‘Conscious Connected’ AtalaiA crafts crisscrossing synths and keeps the groove train firmly on track with a rolling beat while the expectant vocal summons unity from the party people. 
“We are interconnected, we are a TRIBE!”

‘Concoctions’ reverberates on that twinkling moment when AtalaiA has settled into a marathon DJ set and the foggy mixture begins to clarify before his eyes. The dots are joined within the vast and varied crowd and the magic echoes, in small pools at first before rippling out. It’s only then that the DJ can take the tribe anywhere they collectively desire. It’s a felt sense and can not be manufactured with all the currencies in the world, only lovingly concocted with genuine desire.

‘Goji, Smoke And Lime’ is a rousing slice of nightlife in the maze of small streets through Mykonos where the song was put together on AtalaiA’s first trip to the perfectly strange island. He returns there, full circle, as the track is released into the world.

“The ‘Concoctions’ EP is a snapshot of my life as a DJ. As I shine from my corner of the industry I promote joy and quality in the art form I first discovered more than 20 years ago. From my studio to the bar, surrounded by many colourful characters, to the door of the club and the crowded dance floor, the tracks reflect the journey, embracing the politics of dancing song by song, chapter by chapter.”

As Chapters Recordings ascends through the gears, release number four takes a subtle glance towards the dance floor in acknowledgement of the peak time clubbers. AtalaiA has been sitting on this since his days at the famous Scrutton Street Studios in Shoreditch, London. A former home to the production maestros behind the prestigious names you see on tour. A place locked in history where AtalaiA and Dysart crossed paths for the first time in 2017 and their creative energy collided. 

Artist and entrepreneur, Dysart is known for releases on Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains and Carl Cox’s Intec Digital. He provides a rumbling remix with a hint of acid to compliment the original and remind us of Bora Bora, Playa d’en Bossa and Space, Ibiza on a summer Sunday.

Milagros Part 1 & 2 (‘Miracles’ in Spanish.)

Inspired by the possibility of peace through pro-active resistance to war. ‘Milagros’ is AtalaiA’s story of overcoming his own hatred and turning the energy of revenge into art, diverting the power of his hands to productive good. With acceptance came peace like an awesome wave, washing away the darkness as it had nowhere to hide any more.

When building tracks in this genre AtalaiA favours synthesis and writes the melodies and bass lines himself, normally in one long take, constantly modulating and applying effects throughout to give a hand made, organic feeling. The aim of this process is to capture the present with momentum, allowing the universe to speak without interruption. The melodies and arrangement were created in Ibiza, Spain.

Shinrin-yoku

Inspired by the Japanese process of ‘forest bathing’. AtalaiA engages in daily breath work, meditation, fitness and time in nature while maintaining awareness and vigilance throughout the day. This track is born from beyond the boundaries of the mental and physical experience of life. Production began in 2017 based around a vocalist but it took several turns in 7 years, becoming a lesson in communication, negotiation and patience. Through its trials it stripped elements away and revealed instead a more simple essence. Sturdy harmonies gently evolve while filtering in and out as other sounds make their appearance. AtalaiA’s Nord Lead is his weapon of choice for hand crafting several top lines that culminate in a powerful, melancholic breakdown, rich in harmonics, distortion and gentle pitch bends. The track resolves through arpeggiated leads and bass while new elements tease playfully with intermittent vocals.

The Replicators

A track from AtalaiA’s back catalogue of secret IDs that has been impossible to place yet has found a home in so many of his sets. Inspired by replication in all things from musical arrangement and drum programming to our very essence as humans. The track contains field recordings from the Ibizan shore line and subliminal voices throughout.
