The voices in the background are taken from an answering machine; those of friends and relatives who thought I had died after going missing for several days. 

The intern in the recording studio had to leave the room it upset her so much hearing their tearful desperation. 

The music represents the chaos of living in the city, the mechanical ticking of industry set against the humanity of loss.
