For some the groove cannot be learned or given; It is an inherent and intuitive part of their soul. Intr0beatz, aka Reykjavik native Arsaell Thor Ingvason, whole life has been about the groove. From his earliest years delving into his father’s musical collecting and compositions, he first came to prominence as Intr0beatz back in the late ‘90s first as a turntablist, then as the beat producers behind the seminal 2000s Icelandic hip-hop group Forgotten Lores.
But Ingvason is not one who is comfortable keeping still in his quest for deep sounds and immersive beats. Delving into his musical past, as well as opening up his horizons, he released Half Time in 2011 on Möller Records. A heady mix pot of chill out, deep house, funk, and hip hop, it marked not only a maturity in Ingvason’s production but hinted at several new directions away from his hip-hop status.
Since Half Time, Ingvason has been delving ever deeper into house music, over the last few years releasing a slew of 12”s and EPs on various deep house labels such as Dark Energy, Something Else, and Closer To Truth. Today, Intr0beatz has become a major fulcrum in Iceland’s recent house music revival both as a member of the BLOKK house music collective as well as playing and DJing in Europe and Japan.

To celebrate his forthcoming track 'Protected', which forms part of our Dancing with Friends vol2 compilation, we've invited Glaswegian disco slicer Tiptoes into the guest mix series. Keep your eyes peeled later in the year for his Vinyl debut on the label, with a hi-nrg wax workout titled 'Good Vibes Coming'... 

"When I’m approaching a mix I always do loads of prep and digging and I usually like to make some kind of intro/spoken word thing to kick things off and set the context. 

For this mix, I dug out a bunch of vinyl and a few older gems that I haven’t played in a while alongside some newer bits that I’ve been feeling. I always think a mix is a chance to shine a light on tracks that people may not have heard and are maybe less likely to hear when they’re out and about. There’s also the obligatory shameless self-promotion with a couple of my own tracks squeezed in there as well.

After all the prep when I finally get down to doing the mix I always record live in one take rather than layering up a bunch of tracks in a DAW and warping them to tempo as I like to feel the immediacy of the mix in its natural context rather than in a studio environment. Admittedly it’s not always quite as tidy this way but I prefer to give the listener that ‘’this was mixed live by an actual person’’ feeling.

Hopefully, this mix will find its way into a few living rooms, kitchens and afters as we all get back to clubs, normality and dancing with friends this summer, enjoy!" - Tiptoes x

Born and raised in Malmö, Sune is the owner of the top quality label Honey Butter Records and sub-label Mostly Cozy, and is a prolific producer with releases in labels such as Inhale Exhale, Apparel Music, Let's Play House, Poetry & Motion and many many others, with a total full 5 EP's and full length album on vinyl.  

The 30 year old has been DJing and throwing parties for over a decade, and has had the chance to play in cities like New York, Los Angeles, Washington, Portland, Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Amsterdam, London, Berlin, Copenhagen, Stockholm to name a few.

To finish off the first year of my mix series, "Selected Timbres" I've taken the liberty of curating some tunes for your enjoyment. When I first started the series, I knew it was going to be a special series, but I didn't know how much I was going to enjoy putting together a journey for you all to enjoy. In 006, I didn't hold back. I wanted to showcase a bit of me with this selection, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. A few bumps along the way, but when I literally HATE GENRES.. there's a few understandable clashes in the mix lol.. No promotional tunes, don't care when they were released... It's just good music :)

I hope you find this 90 minutes of music takes you away from the day to day, and as always, I hope you find some new music you enjoy! My goal is to share music I love, so that hopefully you can find some new artists you enjoy as well.
