Very few acts win an award on their debut release. Then again, very few acts release a track as sickeningly heavy as last summer's “Bar Fight”. Tucked away on Titan's inaugural “Surface” EP, the classic sample and beef business b-line scored them Best Track at the Drum & Bass Arena Awards 2011; setting solid foundations for the electrifying sonics that will follow...

Not ones to cash-in on such early attention with quick fire carbon copy follow ups, the Belgian duo have diligently toiled over their first full EP. A year – and well over 100 slamming international DJ gigs – has passed and they're ready to deliver a five track strong EP that truly justifies the early kudos they've already scored. 
Each track a true head turner; this self title EP will establish Athys & Duster as an act to keep all ears and eyes on.

The EP kicks off with “Nemesis”, a full frontal bass assault complete with angular stabs, an endlessly mutating groove and a drop that seemingly comes out of nowhere. This will be accompanied by the Nemesis music video where Athys & Duster were followed by a camera crew for a year smashing festivals and venues everywhere they went.

“Nevada” maintains these haunting vibes. The intro takes the dance floor to the darkest of places before a mammoth bass hook takes us into peak time territory. Twisting and turning, rocking and rolling; this is the epitome of a RELOAD situation.

Meanwhile the viciously chilling “Abandoned”, the pair let rip with savage break neck bass and a piano hook so icy it'll freeze the warmest soul.

Those keen on more steps in their riddim should head directly to “Enigma”. Equally as hard-nosed and sharp as its EP bedfellows, but more understated and clinical this is timeless slab of D&B that wouldn't have gone amiss as far back as 97. Complete with mini tremors of a well known horn sample, this will prick the ears of dedicated heads around the globe.

And just for good measure, the duo have thrown in the super-slamming “Lost Faith” as cool digi freebie.

Both “Nemesis” and “Nevada” will be available on 12” vinyl and you can expect a full video with the release too.

Coming on to the scene in 2011 and rockin' it from the start...   Athys & Duster’s first release immediately won ‘Best Track Of The Year 2011’ on the D&BA Arena Awards and got airplay from Crissy Criss at BBC Radio 1, Studio Brussels, Pure FM and other radiostations worldwide.  ‘Barfight’ was an absolute banger and an introduction to the scene with people aren’t likely to forget soon. DJ’s like Andy C, Brookes Brothers, Original Sin and more played it and destroyed dancefloors everywhere they dropped it.

The summer that followed on that release brought them to festivals like Tomorrowland, Laundry Day,Summer Fesitval Dissonant Festival and clubs like Petrol, Café d’Anvers, Trix, … Also, they became Belgium’s favourite D&B act playing only the major editions of legendary events like Star Warz and Stealth Bombers.

Their second release, the self entitled ‘Athys & Duster’ EP also hit hard and combined with their ravishing 4 deck sets, it brought them to the special shows like D&BTV 200, Switch and JIM TV. By this time they  breached national borders and started playing shows in the UK, Portugal, Spain, France, Czech ...  For 2013 they are expected to bring us more with Surface EP 2 coming up and concerts all around the  globe from Colombia to Australia and all that’s in between.
When these boys walk in, security gets doubled, frontstage engineers get nervous, fences go down and people go ballistic.
Wear earplugs. Seriously.
