Our 'Good Morning from ...' Guest Mix series will explore different artists from all around the world as they take us on a journey with their distinct and unique sounds that they'll showcase to represent their taste, surroundings and upbringing.

Today, we’re back in the UK for an early morning story from a duo whose storytelling capabilities have seen them travel far and wide, and today they’ve spoilt us with a gorgeous two and a half hour tale; sit down with us alongside @deathonthebalcony

Travel with us to Blackpool on the Flyde Coast, in Northern England, where neon-lit amusements, bustling funfairs and golden, sandy beaches are everywhere to see.

Death on the Balcony : Good Morning from The Golden Mile

While assembling mix these last few weeks and thinking about the direction I wanted it go, I noticed that elderflower had been popping up in various points in my life. Elderflower is one of my favorite words...it's oxymoronic with the sophistication and experience of an elder contrasted by the youth of a flower in bloom. The taste itself is worth mentioning, which is delicate and sweet in nature…I tried to capture all these things in this mix, sophistication, spirit, delicacy, and sweetness, and I hope that came through. Hope you like it.

Hello friends! Here is the recording of my very first set at Stereo Montréal

A place that truly feels like (((home))) 

A room that means so much to many of us and that sparks wonders for those who haven't been yet. A space where we can be free, all together. A spaceship that uses vibrations to bend space and time. A temple where music becomes alive.

It was an honour to have the chance to play in this room for 11 hours to the most amazing group of humans. It's been a dream of mine for so many years to have the chance to play there and it's one of most meaningful moments I ever lived. Stars were aligned, the collective energy was truly beautiful and I am happy to be able to share with you the soundtrack of that night. 

Thanks to all the @stereonightclub team for the incredible work to co-create such a sacred space for music. 

A special thanks to Luc for the cosmic visuals during the night.

Sometimes I'm asked to describe my sound in a few words. Trying to describe my sound is a task I don't enjoy doing and actually something, as a DJ, I hope I'm never able to do. If I *can* describe my sound, I take that as a sign that I've constrained myself or gotten too comfortable with what I'm doing. The moment I realize I'm artistically comfortable is the moment I start to get artistically uncomfortable. As of late, I've been starting to get a little too comfortable, so this mix is a response to that.

This mix doesn't come completely out of left field - for the most part, I hold on to a sound I'm known for: melodic, deep. But I take a step out of the comfort zone for a chunk of the mix and explore "underwater," touching on the stripped, trippy, percussive side of house music. I even stepped out of my technical comfort zone for some time layering 3, and at one point, 4 tracks at the same time.

As a whole, this mix transports itself in 3 likenesses: chugging on land, swimming underwater, and flying in the sky. A swan is one of the few animals that can do the same, so I present you, A Swan's Song. Hope you enjoy.

Desert Bloom

Intuition: the ability to know directly and instantaneously without rational or conscious thought. Intuition is different than instinct, which is something animalistic. Intuition is higher level, often linked with spirituality, sometimes described as a sixth sense or a taste of enlightenment. 

Intuition is also important artistically. Art is a creative form of communication, which requires outward thinking and analysis. But art is also a creative form of self-expression, which requires the creator to look within through self-awareness.

I fall somewhere in the middle of the artistic spectrum, likely leaning more on analytical side, but I'm always changing and my thought (or lack of thought) process depends on the context. In the case of this mix, which took measurably longer to complete, I hit a frustrating internal roadblock. To try overcome this roadblock, I did a lot of thinking, analysis, visualization of how people would perceive it, and the output was quite awful. I backtracked a bit, and tried another approach: to finish the mix without thinking, relying on intuition rather than analysis. 

This approach also changes my perspective on how I measure the output. Rather than concerning myself whether or not people will think this is great, I am content with the thought that I am releasing something that is simply an expression of self.

Burning Man 2015, 

What a week. What a challenge. What a breeze. What a great time. What an awful time. At times, I wished it wouldn't end. At times, I wanted to go home...REAL home.

This was my 6th burn, and what I walked away with was largely a reinforcement of what I learned the year before: Burning Man is complicated. There are lots of ups and downs. It's unpredictable.

Is this conclusion I've reached the same conclusion all experienced burners eventually come to? Or did I happen to have 2 challenging years in a row? Will I ever have an Innocent Burn just like my first one where everything was amazing all the time? I would like to.

This is my set from the Kalliope art car, recorded Wednesday night at 2am. The Kalliope crew was nice enough to let me host my own night and invite my dear friends to play on their amazing bus, which was a new and exciting thing for me to do that I'm super grateful for. One thing that was consistently awesome in my experience was the crew's unwavering positivity, enthusiasm, and humility - it was inspiring to work with them.

The night was blisteringly cold: my fingers, ears, feet, and nipples nearly froze off, so you'll hear some rawness (sloppiness) in this recording...but it does have its moments too. I suppose the ups and downs you'll hear in the recording are a metaphor for the ups and downs I experienced at the burn. So from that perspective, this is the perfect way for me to communicate my personal experience to you. I hope you enjoy it, and hope to see you in 2016.

Ahead of our first Do Not Sit On The Furniture ADE Showcase at A'dam Toren on Thursday, October 20th, I wanted to put together a podcast to give you guys a taste of what Do Not Sit is all about! Looking forward to playing with our guests Jan Blomqvist & Powel!

Part of the highly regarded Kompakt family, Blond:ish have carved out their own niche thanks to their original sound and fun-loving approach to life.

Better known to their parents as Anstascia D'elene and Vivie Ann Bakos, their productions have found home on labels which include Get Physical, Leftroom and Noir, and they have become a staple on the international club and festival circuit. Learning their trade at Cherry Nightclub in their then home town of Montreal (where they promoted and DJ-ed at their mid-week event called Blond:ish), it was a move to London which lead to a chance meeting with the Kompakt crew through a mutual friend. A series of releases later, in particular 'Endless Games' resonating far and wide, and the Canadians are now card holding members to one of the world's most prestigious imprints.

You would be hard pressed to find a better 2015 LP debut release than their 'Welcome to the Present', an introspective musical journey into back-to-nature mysticism and spiritual groove. The release featured a host of shamanic and organic-sounding instruments, and, with its nod to philosopher Alan Watts, strongly alluded towards their holistic approach to life (and music).

With our 40th podcast next up, the stars have finally aligned for the duo to deliver us a mix that was put together during some time off. ('We made it in Bali in between our yoga, meditation and spa days lol'). It even includes a fresh new production (the first track in the mix), spawned from a very recent recording session they had: 'We made it in a couple hours and just jammed along the groove track'. Featuring music from Ricardo Villalobos, Tuff City Kids, Dorisburg and more, this mix, as Blond:ish puts it, was made for times 'when you wanna get in the groooooove.' And they have absolutely nailed it....

Atish - Robot Heart Burning Man 2012

Atish plays from the soul with a smile on his face. His charm flows as freely as his grooves, and his infectious personality is poured into every performance. The links he makes are not just musical but personal, too, as he communicates the highs and lows of life through his sounds. As an unmistakably warm person, he has quickly built up a dedicated fan base that feeds off his passion and energy. The Atish experience is about more than just dancing - it's about connection.

There is an intimacy and elegance to the music Atish plays whether it's deep house, Romanian minimal, artful techno, or emotive progressive house. Melody unites it all - whimsical keys and curious synth patterns that stir a wide range of emotions and get lodged deep in the memory. For Atish, the challenge is to lead an audience into unexpected new worlds: they won't know how they got there but will be delighted when they arrive. It's a subtle skill he has mastered
while never taking himself too seriously.

His own productions have come on cultured labels like Anjunadeep, Satya, and Stil Vor Talent. The Manjumasi Music label he co-founded with Mark Slee in 2016 deals in house with real heart and musicality. The aim is simply to work with artists whose music they admire; to give a leg up to those who deserve it, then watch them grow, whether with his label or elsewhere.

He is similarly open-minded and candid on social media and recently wrote some software to analyze a year's worth of playlists before discussing the results. He's also keen to demystify the often shadowy and secretive world of DJing and production and open it up to all, which is why he started his own unique party series, Late Night Tonite. Each event started with a sit-down interview with the guest and a conversation about the creative arts before the dancing began.
That now dormant concept led Atish to start his own mentorship program during the Covid lockdowns. He continues it to this day, with students enjoying one-on-one coaching, feedback, and advice sessions in which he shares what he has learned about all aspects of the industry.

In truth, this career chose him rather than the other way around: as a long-time and obsessive music collector, he was happy enough to play on the side around his software engineering day job. But he was making such a mark on the parties he played that word got out and the bookings kept on coming. He decided to throw himself into music rather than live to regret the missed opportunity and hasn't looked back since.

Atish has forged his own path and proven that DJs need not hide behind the music. Instead, Atish is right there to share the moments with you.
