Atis - Crystalline

Decided to start releasing some of my back catalog myself, kicking things of with Helminth Code.

The fresh Brussels-based producer @AtisMusic is the next artist to release with fellow-Belgian @FormAndFunctionRecords. The vinyl version of Movement I EP consists of four tracks, one of them a driving remix by @Cassegrain duo, the digital version comes with one more bonus track.

Monument premieres atmospheric track Ismene from the EP, that is out on November 23rd.

Voltage Festival is releasing a compilation of 4 EP's to celebrate five years of existence. The EP's are dedicated to four sub-genres of techno and represent the versatility in techno of Voltage Festival's line-up.

The series starts off with a classic techno EP called ‘Zener Diode’, followed by a deep techno one called ‘Wiring Harness’, an industrial release with the name ‘Circuit Breaker’ and closing with acid techno called ‘Resistor’. The artists featured on the releases already made their appearance at Voltage Festival, or are playing on this year’s edition.

Hey people, here's a new episode in the journey. Today, let's welcome the talented Atis, from Belgium.

Still early in the journey of being a musician, Atis found a home with the Belgian Form And Function label. More pulled towards the deeper spectrum of electronic music, influence comes from nature, mysticism and science resulting in experimental electronic music in the likes of techno, dub, ambient and breaks.

This mix was made with the intention of being soft, warm and dark, this podcast is meant to be a guide into the exploration of the dreamy areas of electronics, aimed at the uncharted zones and the stretched landscapes of winter coldness. This superb selection is the first collaboration between Atis and Stellar Transitions, so stay tuned for the following step. ;-)

About the picture, it's a still frame from a clip made by Akatak, a Dutch visual studio for which Atis did the sound design. The animation itself was done by Mats Logen. On the 30th of April, VOLTAGE Imprint will release the Transistor compilation featuring a long list of artists that contribute to our local Belgian scene - north, south, and central. Hosting a variety of styles, from hypnotic to industrial, and familiar names; a collection of people who have distinguished themselves in contemporary dance music not just in our country, but around the world. 75% of the proceeds of this compilation will go to these artists in an effort to support them doing what they do best: delivering us joy and a soundtrack to our night. This compilation isn’t just a cry for help, but equally an affirmation that our scene is worth fighting for.

The Transistor Compilation, a name meant to honor an effort to rectify the damages being done to our artists, will be available on all digital platforms including Bandcamp. We ask you to consider buying it, as COVID-19 has rendered it impossible for these artists to play their booked gigs and therefore benefit from their main source of income.

This isn’t the first time our community has been threatened and it certainly won’t be the last. Music and art become more important as times become increasingly trying. Dancing has never felt so appropriate.

Dark and warm are two adjectives that rarely go together unless you’re talking about the music of Atis. It’s captivating and never let’s go. It touches your soul and leaves deep marks in it. His sweltering techno draws inspiration from dub, drum ‘n’ bass and ambient: Ideal if you want to float across the dance floor, or your living room.
