New on Atlantic Jaxx for March 2011 comes the “Hardpaw” EP from DoGbEåTs, Hailing from Portugal, via South London, DoGbEåTs is the canine pseudonym of longtime Jaxx collaborator and live percussionist, Oli Savill. Produced and mixed alongside Felix Buxton at the Jaxx SW9 studio, the “Hardpaw” EP brings 3 percussion led beats to the dancefloor, kicking off with “Galiza”, described as “batucada for the main room”, followed by an “electro nod to Kuduro” entitled “Salta” (meaning “jump”) and finally the tripped out, swarming bassful attack of “Beez”. The EP also comes with a bangin’ bonus remix of "Salta".

Wonky guitar, strange noises darting about in all directions, thick slabs of chopping bass, it's as cutting edge as a razor and, most of all, it works. Giving it a paint job via sleek-edged warped electro awashing, Crookers fashion the original with their essential re-fix, while Basement Jaxx return to the remix fore, displaying no rustiness with a beautiful Ibiza-pointing tropical house rub over; and then our icing on the cake, a slo-mo, half-stepping FHR remix.

CL Gris present their debut four track EP, ‘Words Collide’, on July 2. The EP also includes three remixes of the title track, two of which are produced by Basement Jaxx’s Felix Jaxx, and a third by the elusive Turing. 

Breakthrough act CL Gris is the moniker of electronic music producer Area Grey and soulful singer-songwriter LostBoy. The pair, who formed in 2011, were discovered by Basement Jaxx in 2012 and subsequently signed to their record label, Atlantic Jaxx Recordings.
