Poker Flat Recordings welcomes back the ever-prolific Alex Niggemann for another speaker-troubling dispatch. This time out, the Aoen and Soulfooled boss drops a hea- vy–duty release that more than lives up to his usual high standards.
'Materium' is epic in every sense of the word- a sprawling, tough journey into analog tech- no – with a dash of house thrown in. It rips through the speakers – the crisp and aggres- sive production provides the space for grow- ling synths and atmospheric, tense pads. What’s more, the whole track audaciously dissolves into silence mid way through – be- fore exploding back into life via a descending analog synth line.

'Colourless Water' kicks things off in style with a mesmerizing electro-synth lead, which is reminiscent of Villalobos' classic track 'Bosch'. A sampled scientific dialogue on psychoactive drugs, moreover, dominates an epic break. Next up, 'Say' is more restrained, as a psychedelic synth motif unfolds on top a moody arrangement. Lastly, Becker's bends and reshapes the original's melodic components to great effect on his tripping remix. Totally addictive!

Alice Iguchi, a Tokyo-born DJ now based in Brooklyn, channels a lifetime of cross-cultural influences into her hypnotic, shape-shifting sets. Since arriving in New York in 2015, she has carved out a space in the city’s underground house and techno scene, emerging as a quietly distinctive voice. Early encounters with jazz, teenage years playing guitar in Tokyo rock bands, and a deep affinity for the experimental soundscapes of Radiohead and Björk have all left their imprint on her approach.

The result is a kaleidoscope of melodies, jazz-inflected rhythms, and organic percussion, woven seamlessly into sets that feel at once atmospheric and propulsive. Whether commanding the decks at the Brooklyn Mirage, Womb in Tokyo, or Berlin’s Sisyphos, Iguchi has earned a reputation for transporting dancers into her richly textured sonic world.

Born and raised in Tokyo and now based in New York City, Alice Iguchi is a rising force in the global electronic music scene. 🇯🇵 Blending deep house, organic techno, and Afro-oriental textures, her sets are a hypnotic journey of warm grooves, tribal rhythms, and soulful ambiance. 🎛️  With an ear shaped by years of eclectic listening ═ from jazz and UK rock to Massive Attack and Motor City Drum Ensemble ═ Alice’s sound is both refined and deeply emotive. 🎺

Alice began her musical path playing guitar in a teenage rock band, later discovering her love for electronic music in college. 👩‍🎓 Drawn by the creative energy of New York, she relocated there in 2017, quickly embedding herself in the underground scene. 🎬 From intimate house parties to renowned venues like Brooklyn Mirage, House of Yes, and Elsewhere, she has captivated audiences with her distinct vibe and immersive sets. 🎚️

Internationally, she’s performed at Sisyphos (Berlin) and Womb (Tokyo), and held a residency at Do Not Sit On The Furniture in Miami, appearing at major events including Art Basel and Miami Music Week. ♪ 🇺🇸 Sharing lineups with industry heavyweights like Guy Gerber, Bob Moses, DJ Tennis, and Maceo Plex, she continues to build a name as both selector and storyteller. 🗽

In addition to her performance career, Alice is passionate about sustainability and social impact. 𑁍 In 2025, she joined the Patagonica DJ Tour with Parties4Peace, raising awareness for environmental conservation across Chilean Patagonia. 🧩

Steyoyoke Black consummate their latest release, with an all original EP from Berlin based producer Mallone. ‘Hypnagogic’ is his first release with the label and it arrives boasting plenty of bold crepuscular sounds. Consisting of two tracks ‘Maelstrom’ and ‘The Flowing Moon’, both productions are a testament to Mallone’s unique talent and ingenuity.

‘Maelstrom’ starts off with a cascade of drum layers and gradually builds into a high intensity bass line. Melodic key changes ebb and flow in the background, ladling warm textures and chiming accents, which add to the tracks overall sonority. ‘Maelstrom’s’ energy is then momentarily suspended and left hanging in the orchestral sweeps of the break down, before diving back down into a deep sea of hypnotic altos.

The second track on the EP is titled ‘The Flowing Moon’ and it depicts a colourful tapestry of listless synth lines and atmospheric touches. Well balanced with searing percussion and a strong rolling groove, this track has a sense of moon kissed melancholy. It possesses a powerful presence and fluctuates with an abstract beauty that captures your attention to the very last beat.
