The debut Ep "ARMØNIA", beautifully illustrated by Serjan Burlak ( Biogenic ), mixed and mastered by Davide Cristiani at Bombanella Soundscapes and re-published by ATME Records after the first release through the label Jikken Records, embodies the research, the unceasing curiosity and emotions of the musician and producer ATŌMI artist alias of Lorenzo Setti.

The interest in science and ancient writings led the artist to encode a journey started from the planet’s orbit frequencies of the solar system, into music. A musical research that goes beyond the stringent scientific approach and connects to the spiritual and philosophical world through the use of symbols.
Through the combination and the symbolic representation of different cultures, traditions and philosophies, from the Chinese elements to alchemy, from astrology to I Ching through the Indian chakras, hermeticism and the Pythagorean Tetraktys, the five tracks: Unveil, Evolve, Purify, IAM and OM speak of an ascending path.
They go beyond the word and become symbolism, speaking simultaneously with both the conscious and the unconscious part of our being.

ATØMIA is the second installment of EPs in a trilogy composed by musician and producer ATŌMI, alias Lorenzo Setti.
He debuted in 2020 with his first concept EP, ARMØNIA, published by the Tokyo-based label, Jikken Records and republished by ATME Records in 2024. Through the first work, he defines the objective of the trilogy as a journey through resonant frequencies, symbolism of different cultures, philosophies and ancient scripts.

The second step of this series will be published by Berlin-based new born lichen label ATME Records and it’s based on the following concept:
What fascinates ATŌMI the most is the barely perceptible thread that connects the upheavals within the Sun caused by the nuclear reactions with the human act of cyclically destroying its knowledge acquired over the centuries. The act of burning scripts compared to flares and sunspots finds peculiar common points in catharsis, violence and renewal.

The question that arises is: how much these acts are just “human errors” that keep repeating and how much instead they reflect the alchemical act of purification, which lays the foundations for a new path to follow for all humanity?

An artistic research focused on the connections between the macrosystems of the Universe and the microsystems of human society. 
ATŌMI’s starting point for this project began with an examination of all the historical transcriptions of events related to libraries, manuscripts or cultural centers burned and proceeded with the research on publication such as: “Shifting Pattern of Extraordinary Economic and Social Events in Relation to the Solar Cycle” by Gorbanev Mikhail.

Given that human history is written by who actually won and most of the time overpower someone else, and given that the first transcribed arson dates back more than 2000 years b.c. surely have made the finding of faithful sources that could support the research even harder, veering the project toward a metaphorical representation of the vast significance of this research and profoundly influenced the sounds chosen to compose the five tracks.

These events have been subsequently translated, through the artist's sensitivity, into five tracks, which take their names from five symbolic arson events: Thebes 1358 b.c., Alexandria 642 b.c., Baghdad 1258 a.d., Yucatan 1562 a.d. and Berlin 1933 a.d.

“Music of context rather than concept.”

This is the definition of the first production released after the meeting between Lorenzo Setti "ATŌMI", sound artist based in Berlin (D) and ATME Records curator and the musician based in Rimini (IT), Demetrio Cecchitelli.

With this first release and through the series of residencies and collaborative projects 'The Eighth Climate', ATME Records initiates a research on the relationship between territory and artist, focusing on the creative contamination that familiar, routine or new places bring to the creative approach of the artists.

The artists, researchers and attentive listeners fix their intention by focusing on the details that escape the habitual or occasional passer-by, the keys to understanding that are hidden in the corners among the cobwebs, the bars, the rubble, the prohibitions or in the empty windows that were never built or were recently demolished.
The result is an audio track and an echo of narratives, filtered through the senses that at that moment were inclined to listen or to question. 

The acoustic and textual narrative is composed of ghosts that speak through it, as resonances of the substrate, captured in the environmental recordings made during the four-day residency in Rimini (IT). 
Illuminated by the full moon and accentuated by the summer solstice, the emotions are compressed by the suffocating mug of concrete, fine dust and the greenhouse effect.
From monuments to subways, the moment is captured and the context becomes the real subject.

“Within Floods” aims to connect the audience within unexpected sonic-liquid cartographies, immersing themselves in different stages of a flooding event, while connecting geographies, from Venice to Berlin, from New York to Naples, crossing geopolitical borders just as water bodies and hydro-geological cycles do.The idea for this Various Artist EP was born out of the need to sensitize an audience increasingly involved or not in ecological catastrophes to the different perspectives of contemplating a powerful and disruptive event such as a flood.

In this context of turbulence, storms and floods disrupt our perception of reality. A flood crisscrosses and soils the landscape, dissolves our conditions, our fears, our certainties, but at the same time brings up new ones, reshapes the landscape, obliging us to see the world from a water perspective, rather than the terrestrial we used to know.
As an act of weatherscaping,the title “Within Floods”, connects the sonic and the physical landscape suggesting a shift from “being in the weather” to “be a weather being”, pulling and re-questioning on the same physical and quantic uncertainty that floats in our epoch.

What does it mean to work on a sonic level the disrupted liquid boundaries of a flood?

It is indeed an epistemological act of weatherscaping, crossing boundaries between the human scale and the surrounding ecosystems. 
A storm, like a composition, is made of a Prélude, an electric calm before the storm. An electric charged silence, and a dense stillness inflates in the air. 
Then, at a sudden and violent climax, the perfect storm expresses itself de-charging all the energy stored in months of crisis, pollution and desperation. 
Lightnings of energy, thunder and rhythms break our routine and our indifference, opening up a space for freedom. 
When the storm decides to get quiet, with its gentle anger getting asleep, another quiet, a wet, flooded one, appears to make silver shiny puddles on our previous landscapes. 
Nothing is as it was before.
