Franz Jäger | The Echo Sound Series 007

DYSTOPIA is an exploration of the philosophical aspects of techno. In this first episode I provide some perspectives on how techno presents an image of dystopian society as well as delivers the coordinates for an abstract world of energy that lies beyond it. I then focus upon the music of Swedish techno producer Lakej as a perfect example of techno abstraction and have a detailed chat with him about his production methodology, musical philosophy, and also his motivations behind starting his own record label. Having cut his teeth in the tougher fringes of the electronic gameʼs spectrum under a flurry of aliases in the past, Miro Pajic went on to write new material in the guise of MSDMNR in more recent years, releasing a handful of satisfyingly sturdy but hyper dynamic releases via his eponymous imprint, eventually taking his inimitable jagged and reverb-soaked signature to 30D Records in 2020 with the streamlined ʻEmergencyʼ EP followed by releases on HAYES, MindTrip, Jonas Kopp's TREMSIX, Kaiser's KSR and Illegal Alien Records. Miroʼs music dwells the grey zone between ruff and bleepy rave material and further deep-diving excursions. If heʼs taken his place amongst the most dextrous groove manipulators out there, no doubt the reason lies in his inimitable flair for crafting pieces and moments as effortlessly immersive as they remain proof against time-erodible trends and ephemeral tendencies.

WELTRO is a DJ based in Kiel with roots in Hannover. His musical journey began in 2019, when he discovered his passion for hypnotic, minimalist, and driving techno. Since then, he has captivated audiences with precise track selections and a distinctive mixing style that balances depth and energy.

WELTRO’s sets are crafted to tell a story - genre-spanning, immersive, and always evolving. As co-founder of the event series fluentique and TAL, he has helped shape local club culture from behind the decks and beyond.

In 2023, he teamed up with Leskā to form the DJ duo HADAS, earning a residency at Luna Club and continuing to push his sound into new territory.
