Before the Curfew is a series of music podcasts that emerged in 2022 after the reopening of the club following the liberation of the Kyiv region. All recordings presented in this series take place before midnight before the curfew begins. Before the Curfew offers a vibrant snapshot of the Ukrainian music scene amidst challenging times, celebrating resilience, creativity, and unity through music.

Masked Lima duo @Dengue Dengue Dengue are Felipe Salmon and Rafael Pereira — a determinedly forward-facing pair who harness tropes from their native Péru and convert them into global club music. With recently-released second album ‘Siete Raíces’ (or ‘seven roots’ — a traditional Peruvian liquor brewed from jungle plants with mystical properties) -- released on @enchufada -- they have brewed their own psychedelic cocktail of cumbia, juke and tarraxo. Now, the pair have poured yet another furious concoction of tropical rhythms, tribal drums and far-reaching sonics into our latest DJ mix, which blends the frantic percussion of Clap Clap with the likes of Muslimgauze and Africa Hitech, placing the traditional and the electronic side by side.

Less than a month to go until we are back in Tisno, it only feels like yesterday we were at Barbarella's listening to this fantastic woman warming up the Saturday night.

Having been part of the festival for the last couple of years we thought it was time to ask Saoirse to do a mix for us, what she has delivered is a perfect final warm up before we venture back to paradise. From balearic ambience to sunkissed breaks, this 60 odd minutes shows another side to the Irish born DJ’s collection, her Sunset Sounds.

A couple years ago Dengue Dengue Dengue (@dengue) were approached by Mikołaj Kierski (@basy-tropikalne) to explore pandilla music through their hallmark groovy, electronic psychedelia. Amazonians consider this genre to be the queen of folk music, believed to be rooted in indigenous practices despite the influence of mestizo in its sound. The Peruvian duo explored these influences in a brand new show at Unsound 2018 which you can hear above, blending electronic instrumentation with music recorded in the selva. More of those explorations can be also heard on Dengue Dengue Dengue's new EP—Humos vol. 3—to be released on May 29th to celebrate their 10th anniversary.
