Exclusive: Azo - The Love Bus

Forget about the Soul Train when Azo's Love Bus hits the electronic music road. Kicking off Biologic Records' 2022, Brussel-based artist Azo delivers her musical approach to Space Tourism launching four rockets for the dance floor consisting out of three original tracks and a remix from Steffi for the EP's title track. However, it's the B2, namely The Love Bus, that not only rounds Azo's EP off but due to its Acid-line, love-spreading synths in addition to a heavy bass line takes the listener to weightlessly spheres one can dive into letting mind, body and soul wander easily through it until The Love Bus-spaceship lets one come in smoothly. 

Azo's Space Tourism EP will be released on Biologic Records on February 11th, 2022.

South London's Baby Rollén lands on Atomnation with a fresh remix of Lex Ludlow's 'Midnight'. The club-ready workout is another colourful and characterful weapon from this diverse artist.

Rollén has been making music for over a decade now, and in that time has picked up plenty of fine label credits with the likes of Nick Höppner’s Touch From A Distance and Bristol's influential Futureboogie. He also recently launched his own outlet Slump Recordings and, like his own music, it is defined by an appreciation of classic club sounds but with a contemporary edge. From jungle to UK garage, disco to bass-heavy techno, Rollén has done it all.

Lex Ludlow - Midnight (Baby Rollén Remix) is primed and ready for the dance floor. It has crisp, punchy house drums with a subtle garage skip, throwback piano chords that douse you in love and a seductively smooth bassline. The whole thing is perfectly uplifting and smooth, with neon-hued synths leaving long tails in their wake and deft effects adding extra warmth and soul.

This well-crafted remix is easy to love and impossible to resist.

Next up on X-Kalay it’s fresh heat from one of the finest among a current generation of prog-inclined producers. Guy Contact’s ‘Out of My Head (Into My Body)’ speaks to a sublime, utopian conception of dancefloor utility; dance music primed to achieve ascension through collective physical experience.

Navigating mystic, offbeat zones, Contact sets out his stall from the start. ‘Out of My Head (Into My Body)’ is as pristine as it is expansive, inducing trance states as trippy flourishes oscillate over driving rhythm in impeccable lysergic style. Then, with another dose of melt-on-the-mind groove, a radiant bliss-out arrives in the beautifully buoyant flex of ‘Sacred Mist’.

Taking its name from a part of the brain associated with emotional processes, ‘Amygdala Tongue Wobble’ propels into fractal introspection with dense, insistent pulse. Finally, ‘Optimystic’ finds Contact channelling new age spirits as he assumes the role of innerzone healer - wide-eyed downtempo to close things out.

An EP of limbo-inducing squelch courtesy of our good friends Latrec aka Andy Bainbridge and Serious Hots, ft. techno flavoured remixes from Bristolian pal Remotif & our very own Matt Cowell & Quinn Whalley as The W.C. Enjoy.

In the furthest reaches of the cosmos, the intergalactic community gathers for the annual Kutika Limbo finals. Reigning champion Latrec draws the first straw and the percussion rolls excitedly as he steps up to the pole.

Kutika glides lithely under the bar, tentacles wobbling to the acid rhythm. He celebrates his victory as the crowd chants in a glitchy alien dialect. “Kutika-tika-tika-tika!”

Second in line, Latrec’s younger brother Dub Mix steps up for his first limbo. Shorter and stockier than his brother, we don’t know what to expect from this one. Once again the percussion rolls, the crowd gasps as his squidgy exoskeleton melts before their eyes, reforming on the other side of the bar - ‘blooooop’. The crowd goes wild “Kut-Kut!”

Next up is The W.C. Events take a strange turn as they forgo the competition, instead they walk to the stage to sweep the band aside, hijacking control of the instruments. Heavy percussive hits twist spacetime with material melting bass throbs. The crowd goes wild as the fabric of reality collapses around them.

Last but by no means least is Remotif, a techno unit resembling a giant cluster of biceps stands staring at the limbo pole, chaos erupting around him. The tempo of the percussion rises in anticipation and acid thunder roars in the background. Remotif picks up the bar, blinks, and hurls it off into the furthest reaches of the galaxy never to be seen again.
