Dead or Alive: The Megamix - Morris (of Linn Lovers)

HNYTRX and Dark Entries Records celebrate the first ever vinyl LP release of Patrick Cowley & Jorge Soccaras CATHOLIC with a "Hi-Nrg" tribute mix from the inimitable Paul Goodyear aka SanFranDisko. Paul will join us this Wednesday November 12th, 2014 for a release party at RS94109 alongside Steve Fabus. 

This Wednesday also marks the 32nd anniversary of Patrick passing to what then was being called Gay Related Immune Deficiency (GRID). Take a moment to dance around to this mix and celebrate the lives of those who still bring us ecstatic joy in their music even though they cannot be here to see just how Gay our world is becoming!

Over the past 8 years or so we have had, along with Theo Parrish, the honour of playing the monthly residencies at a small basement club in Shoreditch, London with an impeccable sound system. After 20 years of operation, it was time to move on and close the doors on a place that has a lot to answer for in shaping modern club culture. To say this space along with the owner Ade’s singular vision was fundamental in our personal musical formation would be a complete understatement. 
 
On the day of their closing, manager Charlotte asked us if we’d put the system through its paces for the last time that the club would be open to the public. We set about packing the anthems from our respective residencies and on the night once the people were through the doors played 2 records in turn for the rest of the dance. We included tracks of our own and of friends that were made with that place in mind. Records like Daphni - Ye Ye and Four Tet - Pinnacles were made to first be played at Kieran’s nights there, and the Floating Points - Vacuum EP was born out of the CD-R night at the club, and its launch party was the trigger for Sam’s monthly residency.
 
We set this recording up just before the start of the night and unfortunately it distorts in places, but we make no apology for how joyfully noisy people get! The vibe in the room this night was typical of the club on any given night and we hope this recording captures just a fraction of the spirit of a Plastic People night.
 
A massive thank you from us to everyone that has come down to the nights over the years and supported our music there. We are truly humbled to have shared the music we love with people at this place, and your energy in turn has influenced the way we make music on an unfathomable scale. We also thank the bosses Charlotte Kepel and Ade Fakile for inviting us to the club and having faith in us over  these years! All the best for the future!

All Tomorrow's Parties  is an organisation based in London that has been promoting festivals, concerts and records throughout the world for ten years. It was founded by Barry Hogan in 1999 in preparation for the first All Tomorrow's Parties festival, the line-up of which was curated by Mogwai and took place in the unusual setting of Pontins Holiday Camp, Camber Sands. Since then the festival has appeared every year, and continues to set itself apart from festivals like Reading or Glastonbury by staying intimate, non-corporate and fan-friendly. Another vital difference is that the line-ups are chosen by significant bands or artists, resulting in unpredictable and exciting events which combine performances by legendary and influential acts with appearances by the latest crop of experimental artists from any (and every) musical genre. The All Tomorrow's Parties festival has become more successful with every passing year, moving in 2006 to a larger holiday camp. It has taken place in the UK, USA and Australia

ATP Recordings is a record label started in 2001 by London concert promoter Barry Hogan, who heads the All Tomorrow's Parties organisation, which has been promoting its world renowned festivals and concerts since 2000. The label was originally created to bring out a compilation CD featuring artists from the line-up of a Tortoise curated All Tomorrow's Parties event. As well as further compilations released to coincide with their festivals, the label soon expanded, signing bands and releasing their records: sometimes for the European market where their records had no distribution, but also on a worldwide basis with artists old and new.

The label has notably released the first album by the reunited Magic Band, and also acclaimed albums from Bardo Pond, Deerhoof and Australia's The Drones. The label develops new home-grown talent such as Alexander Tucker and Fuck Buttons, and has also worked to release records by such varied luminaries as Apse, Autolux, Spiritualized, Built To Spill, Sleepy Sun, Death Vessel, Fursaxa, Jackie-O Motherfucker, The Scientists, Threnody Ensemble and White Out (with Jim O'Rourke).
