Atropa BellaDonna’s hypnotic delivery, raspy voice and innovative lyricism easily set her apart from other female emcees.  The name Bella Donna literally means “beautiful woman” in Italian and in English is the shortened name for “atropa belladonna”, a plant that when ingested creates fatal delusions, thus reflecting her dual sided nature (A Beauty and a Poison). 

The femcee started off as a poet and when she was 14 years old, she entered a national poetry competition, which resulted in two of her poems being published. 

Atropa BellaDonna was inspired by influential femcees such as Lauryn Hill, TLC, Da Brat and Salt N’ Pepa. Atropa BellaDonna has performed in the United States and in Europe, including France and The Netherlands. 

In July 2010, Atropa BellaDonna released her first mixtape, “Devil’s Cherries”, which featured production by Hyplified producer, Ryan Lisse. She is now working on her original album.

Thank you to everyone who has ever listened to any of my tracks and supported me. I loved finding myself along this musical journey, but in the midst of doing that, I discovered I loved being behind the scenes better than being in front of it. Rapping is just not something I choose to pursue anymore. However, my flow and message still lives on in my poetry! I'm currently working on a visual poetry project that will combine my words with art, fashion, and music. As a rapper, there was only so far I could go (as far as audience) and I have a deeper purpose to teach and inspire the world.
