In this song we are introduced to the bad guy of the musical: the Anti-Christ.  You can’t get much badder than that.  Previous to the song we learn that the Anti-Christ is actually Drac Frenzie’s biggest fan on the planet, and loved his dark, satanic heavy metal music – until Drac became an Elvis impersonator and started worshipping all things light and heavenly.  The Anti-Christ adored Drac as much as Drac adored Elvis.  The Anti-Christ intends on taking over the world – and also hopes to lure Drac-as-Elvis back to the “dark side”… to save his soul.  

Drac Frenzie, his body inhabited by the spirit of Elvis, rescues Prissy, defeats the Anti-Christ and even converts the former bad guy to his new religion of world peace, Hound Dog.  The Anti-Christ now wears an Elvis mask as well, and joins the rest of the Elvis impersonators as the entire company sings the new “national” anthem of the world, and planet Earth is re-christened Graceland.  Everyone on the planet now dresses like Elvis and the King’s dream has finally been realized: there is world peace.  Near the song’s end [in the script but not included in the demo] the spirit of Elvis leaves Drac’s body [“Elvis has left the building”] and returns to heaven, his mission accomplished.  The backdrop is lit with heaven’s stars… shaped in the face of Elvis.  Also not included in this demo is extra music where the entire cast walks into the house and hands out souvenir Elvis masks to the audience – so the audience will leave the theater wearing Elvis masks and be real Elvis impersonators walking up Broadway…

Graceland

Prissy Bordeaux is a reporter for M-TV and is also known as the “Video Queen.”  She has been infatuated with the world’s most famous heavy metal icon, Drac Frenzie, for years.  Her office is over-decorated with every conceivable Drac Frenzie poster, calendar, doll and knick-knack on the planet.  Prissy is also an aspiring songwriter, having written many songs for Drac, but never having the nerve to give them to him.  In the following scene Prissy interacts with her boss at M-TV, Sheila Fisher, who encourages Prissy to just “do it” and give Drac a song.  Midway through the song Prissy gets up from her keyboard and sings to her favorite Drac Frenzie puppet.  Determined, she decides to book a flight to Chicago to receive counsel from her friend Matt Shadow. 

Rock Star

At a press conference Drac announces to the world that he is now engaged to Prissy.  He also 
announces to an incredulous crowd of fans and reporters that he is Elvis, returned from the grave.  He has come back to Earth to save us before we destroy ourselves.  To this end he has created a new religion: “Hound Dog,” and with it he intends to bring peace to our planet and start a new era of brotherhood on Earth.  He encourages everyone to dress like Elvis – for by dressing like the King and having an entire planet of Elvis impersonators, planet Earth will finally be united in peace.  Midway through the song he hands out Elvis masks to the cast, as everyone takes their “communion,” and are transformed into Elvis impersonators themselves.  These new converts to Hound Dog howl with abandon and lift their legs in a big dance number [not included as part of the demo].  Also, near song’s end there is a scene [also not included] where proselytizing Elvis impersonators attempt to convert the Governor of Tennessee to Hound Dog.  He refuses, so Drac-as-Elvis, also the richest man in the world, buys the state and Tennessee secedes from the union, becoming the new nation of Graceland.


Spread The Word Of Hound Dog

In this scene Prissy, who has been kidnapped by the Anti-Christ’s henchman, is locked in the storage hold of a freighter headed for Curmudgia, the kingdom of the Anti-Christ.  The A.C. has kidnapped her to lure Drac to his palace – where he intends on transforming Drac back to the Marilyn Manson-type of rock star he was previous to his Elvis conversion.  The A.C. also wants Drac as an ally in his quest for world domination.  By this point of the play Drac has developed super-human abilities – powers that are almost Christ-like, as the spirit of Elvis that dwells within him uses His heavenly powers to bring light to the world.  But now Drac has lost these powers, for the locket he always wore that contained the essence of Elvis was lost as he battled the Anti-Christ’s henchmen when they abducted Prissy.  The stage is split into two areas: stage right Drac stumbles through a dessert in tattered clothing, in a passionate quest to find his love.  And far away on the boat, Prissy sits on a crate stage left, writing a song to the man she thinks she will never see again.

This Is The Last Song

Drac, dressed as an Elvis impersonator, goes to Graceland to pay homage to Elvis at his grave.  He 
startles a throng of tourists, who believe at first that he is really Elvis, returned from the dead.  After the tourists realize that he is Drac Frenzie, they storm out in disgust at his “sick masquerade.” Ultimately Drac doesn’t care, because he loves Elvis more than anyone, and believes that by dressing like the King at his grave he is connecting with Elvis.  During the song Prissy runs in and finally gushes out what she’s been holding back – that she loves him.  To her joy Drac responds in kind.  Also, up through the middle of this song Drac has only been impersonating Elvis – but as he talks to Prissy the spirit of Elvis actually descends into his body – and from this moment until the show’s end Drac believes he is Elvis.  And he is: “If we ever could meet, I’d die at your feet.”  Drac “dies” at the grave of Elvis and is resurrected as the King.


You Are The King Of Kings

Matt Shadow, the most famous R&B and Blues recording artist in the world, has been a good friend of Prissy’s for years.  Matt is also the boyhood best friend of Drac Frenzie.  Matt figures out that Prissy is in love with Drac, and takes on the role of matchmaker, as he tries to get his two friends together.  At this point in the show Drac has caused a national stir when he transforms himself from a heavy metal star into the most famous Elvis impersonator of all time – hence, he is “the world’s most well known dichotomy.”  Drac also “hates music videos” because, as an Elvis impersonator, he wants to recreate music as it was – long before there was an M-TV [and Prissy is a celebrity M-TV personality].  In this song Matt encourages Prissy to snap out of her blues, be bold and go after Drac – who is in Memphis visiting Graceland and the grave of Elvis.

You Want Love

ATTACK OF THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS is a two act musical comedy with book, music and lyrics by Lory Lazarus, about the soul of Elvis returning to earth to save us all from destroying ourselves. World peace can be achieved if we all unite as one – and to do that we must all impersonate Elvis.   Twelve actors (seven male, five female) play many colorful roles.  Take the wackiness of “The Producers,” the heart of “West Side Story” and the sci-fi genius of “Little Shop Of Horrors,” throw them in a blender and you’ll pour out a huge musical glass of ATTACK OF THE ELVIS IMPERSONATORS!
 
Drac Frenzie is the richest, most famous rock star ever, creator of the musical genre heavier than heavy metal, “Heavy Bone.” After a concert his best friend gives him something that will transform his life: a locket that Elvis had once given Drac when he was a child. Drac thought that this locket had left his life forever. His friend, Matt Shadow, believes this to be some kind of supernatural sign. Drac has been wanting a change in direction musically, and has worshiped Elvis all his life. And so, over the protests of his manager he decides to give up “Heavy Bone” and become an Elvis impersonator – the most famous one in the world. Eventually, while visiting the King’s grave at Graceland, the spirit of Elvis descends into him, and from that moment on Drac believes he is Elvis – and that he has come back to earth to bring peace to the planet. He starts a new religion called “Hound Dog,” and soon people all over are rushing to convert to this new religion: all disciples of Hound Dog must wear an Elvis mask and dress like the King. Soon, with his immense wealth and influence, Drac/Elvis buys the state of Tennessee – which secedes from the union and is re-christened the nation of “Graceland.” While Drac/Elvis has been spreading peace-through-Hound Dog, the Anti-Christ has started World War III. The A.C. is Drac Frenzie’s most adoring fan on earth, and is aghast that his favorite rock star, who once worshipped all things dark and evil, is now spreading peace and love. He has Drac’s new bride Prissy kidnapped, to lure him to his kingdom of evil, where he hopes to win him back to the “dark side” and have them join forces. But Drac/Elvis refuses, of course, and after the classic confrontation of good versus evil, the Anti-Christ dons an Elvis mask and is converted to Hound Dog. Elvis has saved the world. Everyone on Earth celebrates world peace by wearing Elvis masks and dressing like the King, and planet Earth is renamed Graceland. And, as the spirit of Elvis leaves the body of Drac Frenzie to return to heaven, his mission accomplished, Elvis masks are handed out to the audience during the finale, to spread Hound Dog out into the real world.
