Like the micro movements especially. Great track!

Excellent piece (which I didn't notice at the time). The bridge, located at 1:36, brings another angle and perfectly revives the track without betraying it.

Takahama Kyoshi was a Japanese poet active during the Shōwa period of Japan. He was the editor of the haiku magazine Hototogisu (previously edited by Shiki), where he promoted a more traditional style of haiku, as opposed to other popular schools which did not follow the pattern of seventeen syllables at that time.

Kyoshi also highlighted the symbolic function of the kigo (the seasonal reference), even though the more modern trends were already tending towards seasonless haiku.

Disquiet Junto 0657 was an invitation to compose a pice out of overlapping tones that start and stop suddenly.

I created multiple layers of synth pads, each holding a single note of random duration in the key of Am. Next I bounced the audio, slowed it by 75%, and reversed it to create abrupt stops in each tone. I blended that audio back into the mix to provide a low aural foundation. On top of this I recorded a couple of additional pads with held tones, chopped up with a grain stutter plugin. To wrap it up, I improvised a couple of wandering leads with "broken" synths in Cmaj/Amin.

I worked hard on the spacial mix, so headphones or a good pair of stereo monitors are recommended.

Disquiet Junto Project 0658: Re-Amplify
The Assignment: Re-record and re-compose an organ improvisation by Daniel Glaus.

First I did a recording of a portable speaker output, recorded by a Zoom H1 in a Microwave. It somehow had a crazy humming in it. I recorded two sessions with the Zoom, recoding from the MacBook Speakers. And I tried to record with the Zoom the Output of earpods and changed the sound by holding the earpods closer or further away. All the time the windows were open, which explains the noise. The idea was to have organ-ic elements in it that are as improvised as the recut of the recordings.

his was my contribution for Disquiet Junto Project 0659: Reading the Body.

Was going to interpret the markings on the cello as originally described in the prompt, but ended up taking a different approach. I used an online tool called Image2MIDI. It generated five tracks of 15 bar MIDI notes from the cello back image based on musical parameters I entered on a form. The tool appeared to use the overall light and dark shades of the image for note generation. I then took the MIDI file and imported it into Ableton Live. Instruments were assigned to each track – a mix of built-in and Fors.fm plugins. I made adjustments to the notes and looped them out to about three minutes. A little reverb was the only additional effect used. 

I could see investigating Image2MIDI some more, and maybe using it again as a staring off point for future experiments. I initially wasn't going to take part this week but am glad I did. The assignment turned out to be enjoyable, as well as a good learning experience, so I'm glad I participated. Pattern image by Andrew Ridley via Unsplash.
