Spare Luxury and Tanglefoot Approach sound best on headphones and good on loudspeakers, since the L and R signals approximate the sound which would have entered our ear canals if our head was really there in a  space with those sound sources. 

Csound is written in C and I ran it on a 100MHz Intel 486 Windows machine, compiling it with DJ Delorie's djgpp port of the GNU C/C++ compiler.  Csound reads two text files - orchestra and score - and creates a sound file.  There's no GUI, display or such-like, though I had it print details to the console of the XYZ locations of sound sources as it proceeded.  This full quality rendering took over a day to complete.  (A 2018 model PC can render it faster than real time using one of its four cores.)

In 1998 I altered the .orc file so I could produce renderings of the piece with somewhat different sound placement details, according to what number I chose for the seed of Csound's pseudo-random number generator.
