"Fool Me" Teaser

Au Dré is the new collaborative project of Melbourne producer JamBau and vocalist/trumpeter Audrey Powne. The pair was bought together over a shared love of maximalist electronic music by the likes of Pomrad, Lone and Hudson Mohawke  and an equally affectionate passion for late 70‘s/early 80’s Disco/Dance music. Fusing together these two infatuations Au Dré deliver the perfect combination of a contemporary 'banger' with the sophistication and energy of old school funk and R’n’B.

Their debut single 'Fool Me' is about that moment you realise someone has moved on faster than you, that weird mixture of anger, hatred, nostalgia and the realisation maybe you're "losing" the break-up. Musically it is a hail to 90's house/RnB, bringing together a combination of bright synths, punchy drum samples, soulful vocals, signature 90s piano riffs and horns. You can't help but bust a dance move listening to 'Fool Me.'

Fresh off the back of their debut single Fool Me which made you wanna dance, Melbourne duo Au Dré show their versatility with their reflective new single 'Climax' which might just make you wanna cry.

Climax tells the less frequently heard tale of those who find themselves in a relationship where, by no choice of their own, neither party can give the other what they truly need.

The haunting vocal samples and ambient synth textures are contrasted against the driving drum and bass patterns that wouldn't be totally out of place in an early Magnetic Man or MJ Cole track.

Melbourne power duo Au Dré are back with their new single 'Wanna Know' off their forthcoming debut self titled EP. Following on from debut single 'Fool Me' and the reflective 'Climax, 'Wanna Know' is a absolute party with throwbacks to 80's disco and synth pop but with sophisticated and powerful Trumpet from multitalented front woman and trumpeter Audrey Powne.
The influence of local bands producer /keyboardist JamBau (James Bowers) plays with including The Vaudeville Smash and Sex on Toast is obvious in the tunes funk synth lead line and arrangement but 'Wanna Know' is not an 80's parody. The lyrical content is about a woman demanding satisfaction without commitment from her casual romance tap into the feelings of twenty something women navigating their way through today's hook up, 'no shame in the flame' culture.
Au Dré will launch their debut EP at the Gasometer Hotel on May 13th in a dual launch show with long time collaborator Nicholas Lam a.k.a. DXHeaven who mixed this single.

Au Dré are quickly becoming known as a powerhouse live duo across Melbourne, opening up hearts, minds and dance floors. They are now ready to drop their debut 6 track EP. 
The funk duo is made up of longstanding friends and collaborators: Producer/Keyboardist extraordinaire JamBau (James Bowers) and Vocalist/Trumpeter Audrey Powne.
Au Dré brings to the table both a deep musical connection, as well as a broad range of influences. Inspired by 90's RnB, 00's Neo-Soul all the way through to 80's Boogie, Disco and even a good helping of Detroit House. This all comes together to make an end product that is unmistakably Au Dré.
Expect big, brash drum sounds, obscure synth stabs, relentlessly catchy melodic hooks and heaving bass lines with sassy lyrical content that will make you cheer and/or blush. Trumpet solos, analogue hooks and big freaky horn lines can all be found on this adventurous release and work towards the common goal of music that moves one both physically and emotionally. 
Au Dré launch their self titled EP with their good friend DXHeaven who will be putting forth his sophomore release on May 13 at the Gasometer Hotel along with guests Cocoa Noire and CC:DISCO! It's going to be WILD!

“Lines” is the latest offering from eclectic Melbourne duo Au Dré and the first single from their forthcoming sophomore EP to be released later in 2017.

“Lines” Written by lead singer/Trumpeter Audrey Powne (The Do Yo Thangs) and produced by Keyboardist James Bowers (Sex on Toast, The Vaudeville Smash) is about the risk involved in taking a friendship to the next level.

The soulful and energetic female lead vocals are matched by the bold and exciting production which throws back to 80s boogie and funk whilst capturing the swagger of contemporary R&B and hip hop from the likes of Anderson Paak and Kaytranada.

“Lines” demonstrates Au Dré’s ability to fuse the sensibilities of old school R&B with contemporary production and displays why many consider them to be one of the most exciting new faces of Melbourne Contemporary R&B.

“Gravity” Written by lead singer/Trumpeter Audrey Powne (The Do Yo Thangs) and produced by Keyboardist James Bowers (Sex on Toast, The Vaudeville Smash) is about a relationship with a foundation in pure and irresistible sexual magnetism.

The bold and exciting production hails back to the early 90s and the height of the New Jack Swing era and the work of producers like Teddy Riley and Bernard Belle whilst also capturing and exploring the energy and complexity of more contemporary electronic producers like Hudson Mohawke and Pomrad.

“Gravity” demonstrates Au Dré’s ability to seamlessly salute the New Jack Swing/90s RnB greats and reinvent the genre for modern audiences with dark jazz harmony and intense, driving drums which would be at home amongst big contemporary Hip Hop Tracks.

Au Dré will launch “Gravity” in Melbourne at The Toff in Town on September 2nd and plan to release their complete sophomore EP in October 2017.

Gravity

“Cheap Champagne” is the latest offering from eclectic Melbourne duo Au Dré. It’s the latest single from the duo’s sophomore EP “More is More” which is set to be released in March 2018.

Written by lead singer/Trumpeter Audrey Powne (The Do Yo Thangs) and produced by Keyboardist James Bowers (Sex on Toast, The Vaudeville Smash) is a dark party anthem about bad decisions made after the initial bad decision of drinking too much bad Champagne.

This particular track features an extended, improvised Trumpet solo by Powne which demonstrates her command of the instrument and her unique voice as a female Trumpeter and Jazz Improviser but is also heavily influenced by 90s Neo-Soul/Jazz great Roy Hargrove.

“End Up Alone” is the lead single from Melbourne electro pop/future funk duo Au Dré’s sophomore EP "More is More." Written by lead singer/Trumpeter Audrey Powne (The Do Yo Thangs) and produced by Keyboardist James Bowers (Sex on Toast, The Vaudeville Smash) tells the story of a girl, fed up of on the receiving end of endless booty calls from someone who claims to care about her and her liberation from this toxic relationship.

The powerful and soulful female lead vocals hark back to early 90s RnB balladeers like Mariah Carey, Regina Belle, SWV and R. Kelly. The production also leaves you nostalgic for the 90s with slap bass, epic synth brass hats and soaring gospel inspired organ parts subtly in the back of mix.
 
Following the release of their debut self titled EP in July 2016 Au Dré have been busy playing countless shows around Melbourne including performances as part of Melbourne Music Week, Face The Music, Melbourne International Jazz Festival, Gaytimes and numerous headline shows.

Au Dré’s most recent single “Cheap Champagne” has been spun widely on community radio and on Triple J unearthed and Home and Hosed.

“More is More” the duo’s second EP will drop next Tuesday the 27th of March 2018 before a full length album release in Japan Territory only in April 2018 via P-Vine records.
