Emotions happen in the body, while feelings form in the mind.

As a critical part of the human experience, we examine these two aspects of daily life from the viewpoint of the artist, the varied perspectives that exist, and our collective memory.

BIO:

Daddo Gyan's RAW-HEART-NO-FRILLS approach to music is influenced by the doo-wop, highlife, blues, reggae and folk music he grew up listening to. Often found weaving stories with his raspy singing voice and guitar, Daddo has graced stages big and small - from concert halls to cozy lounges, with a few of his songs setting scenes in award-winning films from Accra to Cannes and everywhere in-between.

Daddo is a self-taught singer-songwriter and producer based in Accra. His songs weave stories about life, positivity and different kinds of love. Daddo's sound has been described as Folk-infused RnB and Soul, often performed with Just an acoustic guitar, piano or minimalist instrumentation. Most of his songs are in English, with the ocassional Pidgin or Twi song.

Daddo originally trained as a filmmaker in Ghana, South Africa and Finland, and it was during his Film studies that he discovered his passion for music. He still works part-time as a post-production consultant.

Since 2012, Daddo has created all his music from scratch, utilizing whatever tools are available - beit on a smartphone or a home studio rig. He has released over 20 singles via SoundCloud and is due to release his Debut Album to all major platforms in the last quarter of this year

Artist bio:

Tommy WÁ is a free-spirited artist based in Ghana with music and visual storytelling as his core mediums. Oluwatomiwa Oyakhilome Suleiman was born to a multicultural family in the city of Ibadan, Nigeria, and later spent most of his teens living in the federal capital (Abuja). To attain a Bachelor's degree in Political Studies and Sociology, he moved to Ghana in 2013, a country graceful enough for the grooming of an artistic interest that has been perceived by a good many to be authentic in expression. All of which accumulated to a perception of his realities, through which he has been able to manifestly compose music and capture the familiar, conveying messages about life, peace, youth, happiness, spiritual consciousness, love, and critical thinking, with a graceful hope that his audience receives them with new eyes, ears, hearts, and minds.

Kankam is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter born in Kumasi, located in the heart of the Ashanti Region in Ghana - West Africa.

He started to pursue his passion for music after high school, picking up the guitar and learning how to play in 2003. Shortly after he began writing songs in his native language of TWI as pidgin.

In 2006, he started recording professionally after meeting well known Ghanaian producer Lloyd Osei Baffour, also known as Peewezel.

His first single came out in 2012. ‘Mekondo Adiebi”. This Afrobeat inspired tune for him on popular TV show “Allo Tigo” and enjoyed massive airplay on top radio stations across Ghana.

In 2015, is career reached a new chapter when he shared the same stage with Grammy award winner Angelique Kidjo, Youssou N’dour, Wiyaala, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy at the Mo Ibrahim concert in Ghana. That same year he opened up with an electrifying performance at the first ever Felabration, also held in Ghana.

Today, Kankam has 7 singles out including his latest jam featuring rising Afro-pop artist Famey3. The highlife inspired song called Maadwoa came out in late July to a great reception by Highlife music lovers across the world. Kankam is back in the studio writing and recording his next 3 singles and preparing for an album in June 2021.

"To speak" and "library" are the words "KASA BIBLIOTHEK" from the Akan and German languages respectfully. 

It expands on the ideals of the podcast Audacityto, which focuses on the understanding of the creative force, its effects and they that harbor it within via art, culture and spirituality.

Inspired by the phrase "artists must begin to view themselves as cultural policy makers" from the book Fair Cooperation ( A New Paradigm for Cultural Diplomacy and Arts Management ) by Annika Hampel. My questions are in regards to the effects of the ongoing pandemic to artists, art, and culture which bases much of its work on cooperation. 

And to also understand the means by which artists became cultural policy makers, establish why they should perceive themselves as such, and what the economic and noneconomic benefits of that could be. 

Annika Hampel is an expert in the areas of cultural policy and international affairs, with a particular interest in international cultural and scientific cooperation and diversity as well as the role of culture and science for sustainable development. In 2014, she completed her doctorate on International Cooperation in Culture, Education, and Science with distinction at the Department of Cultural Policy at the University of Hildesheim. In 2015, her doctoral thesis was awarded the ifa Research Award on Foreign Cultural Policy by the Stuttgart Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen and the ENCATC Research Award on Cultural Policy and Cultural Management by the European Network of Cultural Administration Training Centres in Brussels. To date, Annika Hampel has received four scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) for research visits and internships in Ghana (twice), India, and South Korea. 

Annika Hampel has been working for more than ten years at various German universities and institutes in the internationalisation of research, teaching, and studies. Recently, since June 2018, she is both managing director of the Africa Centre for Transregional Research at the University of Freiburg and scientific coordinator for the Maria Sibylla Merian Institute for Advanced Studies in Africa (MIASA) at the University of Ghana (Legon, Accra)
