Nicola Cruz is releasing the remixed version of his critically acclaimed 2015 album, Prender el Alma.  It will be released on June 10th on ZZK Records, and features remixes by 12 artists including label-mates History of Colour (El Buho & Barrio Lindo), Chancha Via Circuito, and sister label-mate EVHA.  

Inspired by electronic music techniques and local Andean music and culture, Cruz created the original sounds in Prender el Alma layer by layer, instrument by instrument, drum by drum.  A cast of eclectic Latin American artists seamlessly pick up where Nicola left off, adding their unique flavor to each individual track.

"The Bag of Bones EP is an unsettling yet beautiful record. Coming from a time when South Africa is undergoing an unnerving state of change with revolution bubbling just under the skin. The record speaks of hope, anger, love and dreams.
Righteous Red Berets is an ode to Stakerlee who kills another man cause he cheated his cards and we also hear from Reverend Jim Jones as he preaches hope from his mass graves.
Luke Vibert (a hero of mine since the late 90s), reinterprets the track with his unique brand of Funk and Soul that adds some love to a desperate song. 

Bag of Bones is my personal balad to a life with the lights turned off. Just me and my guitar. Shane Cooper (AKA Card on Spokes) adds his beautiful double bass to this track and helps it breath life.
Kill the Boer is a Remix of my 2002 Kwaito Bass classic "Donkey Rattle". I base the remix around a sample of a Toy Toy from Soweto 1960 to speak about the current "revolution" with a different government but with the same despair

Wonderwheel Recordings is very proud to present the long awaited debut album Bennu by Queens, NY based produced Thor Partridge, aka Thornato. Building up a name for himself over a number of years as a proficient and in-demand remixer, Thor’s breakout tune “Gaita Gaita” has been sampled thousands of times by producers all over the world, and has become a certified hit record in South America. A string of remixes and a couple of rare song releases later, Thor’s groundbreaking Things Will Change EP was released via Wonderwheel in 2016 garnering massive buzz and record sales, resulting in a European tour that summer, and a Boiler Room performance in the fall.

Bennu represents a giant leap forward for Thornato, as he showcases his chops in crafting dancefloor gems from the ground up. While the electronic production of the album provides a strong backbone, Thor has carefully selected artists from Jamaica, Ecuador, South Africa, Colombia, Canada and beyond to breathe live energy into each song. Ean Golden, one of the earliest pioneers and community leaders of DJ culture since 1997, has returned with his first original body of work in over 15 years. "Love and Shadow" is completely written and composed in the Ecstatic Dance format, a wave of energy and tempos designed to bring the dancer back into their emotional bodies. 

Ean takes the listener on a full journey of his interior world—navigating a wide range of musical intensities.
