Melodic Beats Podcast #144 Andy Holdsworth. We welcome Andy to the MB shoreline for this months episode. Forescape Radio #087

There's a lot to think about when playing an early set for such an iconic old clubbing brand like Godskitchen, especially when it's a 25th anniversary show at Amnesia in Ibiza. I need to make sure I stay true to my current sound, while throwing in memorable tracks and moments from back in the day. I need to make sure those classics I do play aren't obvious ones that are peak time and the ones everyone else will think of playing on the night. I need to place those records carefully, depending on how long it takes for the room to fill up (the club was packed on this occasion!), and how the energy is going. And I need to be considerate of which DJ is following me, and also the general flow of the night on a whole, while marrying the expectations of the people on the dancefloor. This is what I went for, and I think it's worked out ok :)

This years first podcast needed a bit more time than expected, though i guess the time was worth to wait. I got 5 songs of mine in this, 4 of them unreleased and a special live version of Calendula which i originally produced with Microtrauma. Also in here is the premiere of the upcoming main track "Sail" taken from the next Klangwelt release by 1979 and the premiere of We are all Astronauts "This Too Shall Pass". Several Edits and cuts of the other songs included are waiting to unfold to your ears during this journey from listening to club tunes. Hi, my name is Mark Selby, back in the day, around about 1990 I first went to the legendary club in my home town of Sunderland "The Blue Monkey" and straight away I was hooked to the ever growing rave scene that was taking over the country. After several years of clubbing and trekking up n down the country attending raves I decided to purchase my own set of Technics 1210's. At first I started messing about with techno until I heard an amazing set played on the Essential Mix by the one n only Paul Oakenfold, that was it, I was hooked to psytrance  buying tracks on Perfecto Flouro, Union Jack and Dragonfly etc. It wasn't long after that I was introduced to epic house music and realised this was the sound that I wanted to start playing, listening to and taking inspiration from dj's like Sasha, John Digweed, Dave Seaman to name a few. Eventually the scene took on the name of Progressive House, this was the style of music that I played for the next 6 years before hearing UK Hard House, I started playing hard house with old friends that I used to go out raving with.
This was a fantastic time when me and my friends did various nights the Sunderland playing in local bars, our most successful night "Crackdown" was a fantastic event where we would pull in a crowd of proper die hard music fans....good times ;-)
After about 6 Years of playing hard house I started to get back into trance music again and also took the digital plunge and started using CDJ's which I found strange at first but soon got the hang of, I messed about with trance for a few years before reverting back to my true roots of progressive house, the music that I first started to play back in 96.
Around 2 years ago I started a SoundCloud account and started putting my mixes online and the rest is history!!!!
