The hot fire hissed and spat, it's billowing smoke creating a mushroom-shaped cloud in the thick black darkness. The inhabitants of the village gathered around it fixing their gaze firmly on the rising orange flames. The beach was busy with people and sun worshippers who had come to the plaza on an elegant spring break. There was sauce, dancing and intrigue floating upon the warm air and the world was wide open with opportunity and adventure. The sunset would come and they would be lost in the darkness.
