The first Mixtape and the first try to explore the diversity of music with this platform here, connected to some very-awakened -
DJ's, we know from Partys around.

This very first Episode comes from Philipp Demankowski, who really helped me to start not a zero-point. Especially people I know in Dresden where I used to live for a long time know him as one main man from the Electronic Music Label 'Uncanny Valley', the Baleraric-Sunday-Supervisor and the Host of the UV-Funk-Radioshow.

He is a real Balearic-Amigo and a Disco/House-Diver.
This Mix contains some hidden vinyls, non-touched for some long times from an Indie-Boy, but already with the right taste for the extraordinary.
It's an experiment of different Rhythms and shouting Voices.

AUFSCHNITT #1 -  Philipp Demankowski

Okay, this UV Funk show is totally not-to-be-missed material. It is dedicated to the hidden treasures from former Yugoslavia. Due to the Western-centric coverage of pop music’s history it is easy to miss some of this awesome music that ranges from obscure Boogie records to cosmic synth epics. To unearth these beauties via their @discom-1 label is the purpose of Belgrade-based music aficionados Luka Novakovic and Vanja Todorovic. After putting out the re-release of Boban Petrovic “Zora”-LP under the now-defunkt Disco not Disco imprint, Luka and Vanja started Discom. So far, they’ve released four LPs, among them an excellent compilation called “Yugoslavian Space Program” that brought together synth and Kraut masterpieces from a time period spanning the years between 1981 and 2015. Only recently they released the album “Sidarta” from the experimental/ jazz fusion collective 37°C. 

But if you listen to this mix they’ve put together for UV Funk it seems as if these releases were just the tip of the iceberg. Happy digging!

When we started to get interested in music that goes beyond the box a few years ago, Condor was one of the very few DJs in Zurich who pointed out how diverse the palette of dance music can be. He still does this for us today and therefore we feel honored to welcome him to our mix series!

For around two years now he's running the secret location "Garage 29" - which is a garage indeed. The location is hold in a puristic style with focus on good music and a hi-fi vintage Soundsystem (you will find vintage Klipschorns there).
Coupled with the familiar atmosphere it attracts an audience that knows how to dance even far away from clumsy club music. For all those who don't know Zurich's nightlife; this is about as uncommon as your rarest record on the Discogs Wantlist.

But now enough of words. Let's revel in the future, in which we can move freely again in places like these by immerse in this mix with mostly latin rooted music as Condor himself.

A 4 minute neo- jazz-funk track with lot of drive, but no jazz solos. For people who like Kamaal Williams or Four Tet. 
Niklas Wandt is a producer coming from the „Salon des Amateurs“ - universe. He released an albums with Jan Schulte aka Bufiman and is part of the new band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge.

Zongamin takes a snapshot of lock-down, like a faded picture of a day at the fun-fair, scrunched-up and torn-up at the edges. Exotica, disco, dub and kosmiche stylings are doused in bleach and tumble in a bath of mud and frothing sea water. Tape loops circle around, conjuring dusty clouds and moments for reflection on times passed. Like the work of General Strike and Hype Williams, Zongamin molds his explorations in multi-genre goo, but bypasses obvious pastiche, instead unearthing a form of latent, submerged funk.
