Nadia Khan’s sublime Port Ana EP dropped towards the end of 2020 on the Scissor & Thread imprint. It’s deep, emotional sound palette resonated with the state of the world at the time, and signalled Nadia as an artist exploring new and deeply affecting sonic territories. 
This collection of remixes brings some of those tracks into new realms, conducted by CCL and label boss Francis Harris. 
CCL bring a new rhythmic take to the tracks Rain Again and Conversation - both are augmented and embellished with deep, tripped-out beats perfectly complementing the liquid soundscapes and melodic flourishes of the originals. 
Francis Harris’ take on Conversation goes even deeper, dispensing with almost all drums or percussion until near the end of its 9 minute runtime instead focussing on the interplay of pads and an ebbing and flowing bass line.

My connection with music is deeply personal. Music has been with me since childhood, before I began studying instruments and composition. It's evolved into something akin to a diary, a collection of records and artists that resonate with my musical ideas and path.

In the past, my biggest challenge was getting comfortable with the audience and getting people to move. Over the past two years, I've become more drawn to fast-paced and vibrant styles. This shift allows me to freely blend elements from different genres, always with an experimental twist that still works on the dance floor.

I only play music that evokes a certain feeling in me. Mixing isn't just about creating smooth transitions; for me, it's more about how the sound elements and rhythms interact between two or three different tracks. The atmosphere of a track is my main focus, both in production and selection. These are all the elements that make up the "back" of the track – drones, noises, and anything that doesn't strictly follow a rhythm.

This concept of sound design and mixing technique is what I especially want to share with my part of this podcast series.

Wave Arising (@wavearising) aka @69db aka Sebastian Vaughan has lived through many musical movements from hip hop to acid house, rave to hardcore. He began making his own as a drummer and drums remain at the heart of his weightless techno sounds all these years later. That was exemplified once more by his most recent album which is an exercise in rhythm that works equally on mind, body and soul. He has long been a part of several key techno collectives including Spiral Tribe, SP23, R-Zac and Dharma Techno and seeks to bring movement, trance and spirituality to the weightless sounds he makes and plays as Wave Arising alongside the dancer Kynsie.

This week he has put together a special live mix that has been fully improvised in the studio as opposed to a standard DJ selection. It comes ahead of his performance as 69db at Dekmantel Festival this year and is a perfect example of the intense and ritualistic music he makes: it's a tribal soundscape constructed from supple, elongated and heavy rhythms, spaced-out ambient pads and experimental dub movements that are all doused in psychedelic overtones which consumes all your focus.

We are glad to present the debut album from an artist within the Organic Signs family: @solmadj . One year ago, the French artist planted the seed of this sonic journey with his set at The Memoir by Hypnus Records. Now, that seed has fully blossomed, unveiling a collection of new creations. Eight tracks that define his sonic universe, where DnB, halftime, and tribe intertwine in an atmosphere of hypnotic textures and pulsating synths.

The journey begins with Wetlands, drawing us into a mist-laden landscape where solitary birds glide through the sky and the dense humidity clings to every breath. In the dim light, a deep, enveloping sound spreads through the air, merging with electrified gusts of wind. As we move forward, distant echoes of other life forms emerge, thriving in the space between water and earth.

The first heartbeats stir in Mud. Continuing the path set by its predecessor while subtly layering new elements, the track immerses us in mystical soundscapes, unlocking portals to uncharted dimensions. Percussive fragments, scattered across the stereo field, begin to surface tentatively, paving the way for Clay, where the hypnotic progression deepens.

With Spores, the rhythm evolves into 4x4, maintaining the ethereal essence that has permeated the album from the start. Percussion elements phase in and out, leading seamlessly into Trimitic, a stripped-down yet profound exploration of minimalist Tribe.

The album builds in intensity, reaching its peak with Fungal Network, an electrifying burst of energy crafted to set the dancefloor ablaze. Then, The Consciousness of Plants slows the pace once more, introducing a whispering voice and a synth that oscillates fluidly, pulling us into its meditative sway.

The journey culminates with Reset, where the tempo eases, and the narrative comes full circle. The echoes of birds return, this time illuminated by the clarity of a new dawn. With Liquid DnB rhythms and textures, Solma concludes his debut album with a farewell that lingers in the mind, resonating long after the final note fades.

Beatrice M.'s Bait invites Trois-Quarts Taxi System back into the fold for both the artist’s and label’s debut album release, ‘Plexus’. Leaning into innovative 140 mutations, Trois-Quarts Taxi System dedicates his first long-format release to exploring the depth of this space and stepping away from his usual 170/80 sound. A deep meditative journey of introspection.

Taking the name ‘Plexus’ from a key he found in the street, the album is split into various parts with the heart of album comprised of three parts of ‘Plexus’ - drone-like soundscapes which retrace different states using a variety of acoustic and electronic sounds combined with samples from an anonymous cassette found in the street. This hybridisation of sound is often influenced by ideas Trois-Quarts Taxi System comes across whilst working on his live shows; an artistic practice that is very important to his output. On this occasion, Trois-Quarts Taxi System has used this extended period to explore the bridge between dubstep, techno and experimental, pieced together with quiet ambient moments.

DU:RA is a Gadigal Land/Sydney-based label operated by Ritmu & n-trip. Their latest release 'DR003', the third in a series of compilations, is a showcase of the darker, grimier & more entrancing parts of Australia's electronic underground.

'Monohumaning', a contribution by Interimm, sets the tone of the compilation appropriately as it grinds & wiggles its way into your ear. The work of Finn Langham, member of Naarm/Melbourne-based band Polito, 'Monohumaning' is a grumbling, beefy piece of dubstep inspired sound design as much as it is a spacious techno roller. 

It fits perfectly with the remainder of 'DR003's offering, of which label heads Ritmu & n-trip shared: "The release ventures across previously uncharted territory into the depths of electronica and lands in a familiar space of hypnotic dissonance. It is an ode to the ever evolving sound found down under and captures everything that is worth paying attention to on this side of the pond."
