01. The Great Distress

Welcome to the second volume of Don Chich's Mystical Experiences.

This set was recorded live at Hope Street Radio in Collingwood yards on a chilly winters evening on Thursday 14/7/22 from 5-7pm.

Keeping it in the ambient dub realm with a large focus on eastern soundscapes, tribal percussion, female chants, flutes, slow-goa rhythms and rumbling baselines.

The first track is an unreleased song from the 90s I was gifted on tape from a wonderful friend. It features the great minds of Biosphere, The Irresistible Force, Solar Quest, Pete Namlook and Terence McKenna.

"We are approaching the history barrier, and it seems as though our societies, our planet are going to be shaken apart by the encounter. But what we are challenged to do is to redesign the historical spacecraft while it is in flight, so that we evade the compression forces at the end of history, and are able to slid effortlessly into the higher dimensions that beckon beyond the advent of the third millennium.

Siempre que grabo intento provocar algo en el interior de quienes me escuchan. Durante estos días de cuarentena alguién decidió traer al mundo dos nuevos rostros y para darles la bienvenida decidí hacer una representación sonora de lo que fue su nacimiento. De la travesía que supone dejar atrás el vientre materno para ser un elemento más de este mundo. Del cambio pendular de sentimientos que se balancean entre la belleza y la violencia que puede mostrar la naturaleza, donde el pulso entre la vida y la muerte pueden parecer míseros caprichos del destino., Los cambios de temperatura, la luz, el color. El comenzar a respirar de manera independiente además del primer contacto con los hermanos. Las complicaciones y el destete prematuro para salvar la vida de todos.

Este es mi regalo para vosotros.

Whenever I record I try to trig something inside those who listen to me. During these days of quarantine someone decided to bring two new faces into the world and to welcome them I decided to make a soundtrack of what their birth was like. Of the journey of leaving behind the mother's womb to become one more element of this world. Of the pendular change of feelings that swing between the beauty and the violence that nature can show, where the pulse between life and death can seem like miserable whims of destiny, the changes in temperature, light, colour. Beginning to breathe independently as well as the first contact with siblings. Complications and premature weaning to save everyone's life.

This is my gift to you.
