I put aside emulating things I’ve learnt and just made something that’s very me. I went a little off piste too..and I like it! 

All of the stems are in there, made together with some rnb-garagey vocals.. and the drop is feeling niiiice. It’s a little weird, but hey, why not make it a little weird?!

Disclosure x Goodwill - Let It Go (#BeHoward3.0Competition)

Decided to completely change the vibe of this track by chopping up the keys and bringing in the funk by adding some guitar and Thundercat style bass! Also messed about with some odd time signatures.

Collaboration between me and Auralponic for Disclosure's Be Howard Competition 10. We called this one “I Just Want To Be”. Auralponic came with the basic idea and we worked it back and forth online between Los Angeles, California (USA) and Jakarta (Indonesia). I sang and wrote English lyrics on this one. I JUST WANT TO BE - JONATHAN MONO & AURALPONIC

Once we realized that we had both placed 5th twice over the last 10 weeks we knew there was only one way to end 2020 : Strooly & Dan Be, throwing everything we've learned this year into BeHoward11. We both feel this is the perfect balance and representation of each of our unique skills and sounds. Building everything around the provided samples, we each took several passes layering in our ideas. Final mix by Dan Be, final master by Strooly. 14th submission now, bleeding eck. 

Unlike a lot of the others, for this one I spent pretty much a full 48 hours. I tried to keep the stems at the forefront, and build upon them while getting a tad poetic-y at times. Hopefully this fits the bill! 

Rhodes, Rhythm, vocals and darker undertones, does it get more Jamie A than that?
