A complex ensemble at the crossroads of techno, ambient, and contemporary music, the duo Bark crafts performances that dismantle common dancefloor conventions.

Formed in 2020 by producer Aurélien Mortha, the project first reached audiences with the EP Flocons — a four-track, melodic, mineral-like piece of techno. In 2025, with the arrival of classically trained multi-instrumentalist Kevin Dumas, Bark evolved into a duo, now shaping hybrid, deeply sensitive music centered on immersive and organic live performances.

Far from relying on clichés or stereotypes, Bark’s world reveals a contemplative and obsessive intimacy. We witness a performance shifting between melancholy, brutality, breathlessness, and hope — unfolding over techno rhythms, lo-fi grooves, and distorted melodies.

At the heart of the creative process lie live recordings from long improvisation sessions begun at Le Ciel — an underground music laboratory — where the duo has been in residence for a year. From this raw material, combining complex rhythms, generative sequences, and live-played instruments such as piano, guitar, and noise percussion, a detailed sound design and post-production process takes shape, preserving the unpolished and experimental nature of the flow.

From the underground of Le Ciel, a close dialogue between sound and image also emerges through collaborations, offering the listener a fully immersive and conceptual experience.

Through this cinematic techno, we follow the naturalistic wanderings of Flocons and its solitary path, and then, we enter the urban intensity of Hurt, with its deep disillusionments revealed through flickering, strobing flashes. Between shadow and light, we are both pushed and moved. Along this emotional journey, we explore the foundations of melancholy — the melancholy of the past, and of what no longer exists.

From this twilight portrait, Bark beats the drum for those who, caught in their doubts and contradictions, feel more than ever the need to cry, to dance, to live, and to love.
