"Silence, instant, recurrence" for piano is a ricercar composed under consideration of the eternal return. So, "The die is cast" or "God does not play dice"?

In Buddhist thought, it is said that the dead child before his parents will be brought to the riverbank "Sai". "Sai" means the dice in Japanese. This child could enter the Buddha paradise after he fulfilled raising a round cairn. But the devil comes to destroy the tower each time the child will complete his work, and his efforts will not be rewarded forever. Also in Greek mythology, one is near episode. As Zeus's eternal punishment, Sisyphus was forced to keep pushing a rock in the mountain Tartarus. When arriving to the summit, the rock falls to roll and this penance is repeated in eons.

On the other hand, in the thermodynamic point of view, a similar situation is not the same as another, even if it appears, because the universe continue to broadcast and diversify its state by the law of entropy. Furthermore, in chaos theory, a simple regularity seems sometimes very difficult to predict a result, and in quantum theory, the uncertainty principle states that the position and moment of the particles in the microscopic area cannot both be measured, exactly.

"Silence, instant, récurrence" pour piano est un ricercare qui a été composé sous la considération en éternel retour. Alors, "Les dés sont jetés" ou "Dieu ne joue pas aux dés" ?

Dans la pensée bouddhisme, on dit que l'enfant mort avant ses parents va être amené à la berge de la rivière "Sai". "Sai" signifie le dé en japonais. Cet enfant pourrai entrer dans le paradis de Bouddha, après qu'il accomplisse à amasser une tour de cairn. Mais, le démon vient à détruire la tour chaque fois que le petit va terminer son devoir, et son effort ne pourra pas récompensé éternellement. Aussi dans la mythologie grecque, on se trouve un épisode proche. Comme un châtiment éternel de Zeus, Sisyphe a forcé de continuer à pousser un rocher dans la montagne Tartare. Lors d'arriver vers le sommet, la roche tombe à rouler et cette pénitence est répété dans des éons.

D'autre part, dans le point de vue thermodynamique, une situation semblable n'est pas identique à une autre, même si cela se reproduit, parce que par la loi de l'entropie l'univers est toujours en état continuel de diffuser à se diversifier. En outre, dans la théorie du chaos, une régularité simple semble parfois très difficile à prévoir sa conséquence, et dans la théorie quantique, le principe d'incertitude indique que la position et le moment des particules au niveau microscopique ne peuvent pas à la fois être mesurés, exactement.

ピアノのための『沈黙・刹那・回帰』は、永劫回帰に想いを巡らせて制作したリチェルカーレである。はたして「賽は投げられた」のか、「神は賽を振らない」のか。

仏教の世界観で親に先立つ子が行くとされる賽の河原。そこでは、逝った子供がケアンの塔を築けた際に成仏が叶うという。だが、鬼がやってきては塔を破壊し、何度塔を築こうとしてもそれを繰り返すことになるという。ギリシャ神話にも、ゼウスを欺いた罰としてシーシュポスがタルタロス山で岩を押し上げ続けるというエピソードがある。山頂まであと少しというところで岩が転がり落ち、その苦行が永劫に繰り返されるという。

一方、熱力学的視点では、エントロピーの法則によって世界は常に拡散し多様化していくので、類似の状況が再現されることがあってもまったく同じであることはないという。またカオス理論では、単純な規則性で表現されることが結果として予測が非常に難しくなることがあるといい、量子論では、不確定原理によってミクロな領域の粒子の位置と運動量は正確には決められないという。

Born in Kyoto, Japan in 1980, Japanese composer Keita Matsumiya is resident artist 2016/2017 at Casa de Velazquez of French government, as a member of Academy of France in Madrid, in Spain. Previously he was a member of Cursus de composition 2011/2012 at IRCAM, where he researched computer assisted music. His principal teachers there were Kiyoshi Furukawa, Masakazu Natsuda,  Allain Gaussin, Frédéric Durieux, Gérard Pesson, Luis Naon, Michael Levinas and Claude Ledoux. He received Bachelor of composition (2010) and Master of composition (2013), and obtained two Prises of composition and music analysis at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris. Before Paris, he studied musicology at Aichi University of the Arts and sound installation at the graduate school of Tokyo University of the Arts, where he received Master of Arts in 2006.

Matsumiya is a recipient of several honors. With his 2010 work La glace s’étoile, s’enchaîne for flute and harp, he was awarded Takefu Composition Award 2010 in Japan by jury Toshio Hosokawa and Mark André, and with his 2013 work Soliton for chamber orchestra and electronics, he was awarded honorable mention of Concours Destellos 2015 in Argentina. Other recent honors include two artistic residency fellowships from Institute Français Fez in Morocco and Tokyo Wonder Site, as well as a commission from Klangspuren Festival 2012 in Schwaz.

His catalog extends from instrumental-vocal music to mixed and electroacoustic music. In 2015, he received a commission from Dairakudakan, a prestigious dance company of Butoh in Tokyo, to write an electroacoustic stage piece entitled ASURA, and in 2017, a commission from Ensemble Regards in Paris with the support of SACEM for his choreographic-musical project, KARURA. His works have been performed by National Orchestra of Lorraine, Ensemble TIMF, Camerata Stravaganza, Musica Universalis, Ensemble Regards, Orchestra of Laureates of the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris, among others, and presented at renowned festivals such as: Festival Mixtur in Barcelona, Festival Klangspuren in Schwaz, Centre Achantes in Metz, Brittany International Saxophone Academy, Tongyeong International Music Festival, Takefu International Music Festival and Ars Musica Festival in Brussels.

His scores are available at the Edition Tempéraments in Bordeaux.


1980年京都市生まれ。愛知県立芸術大学音楽学部作曲専攻（音楽学）を経て、2006年東京藝術大学大学院先端芸術表現専攻修了。ロームミュージックファンデーション、メイヤー財団の助成を得て2011年パリ国立高等音楽院作曲科第１高等課程、2013年同科第２高等課程、2016年同楽曲分析科修了。2011/12年IRCAM（フランス国立音響音楽研究所）作曲研究課程を経て、2016年フランス政府の派遣によりカサ・デ・ヴェラスケスにてレジデント・コンポーザー。古川聖、夏田昌和、アラン・ゴーサン、フレデリック・デュリユー、ジェラール・ペソン、ルイス・ナオン、クロード・ルドゥ、ミカエル・レヴィナスの各氏に師事。

2010年第8回武生作曲賞受賞、2015年第8回デステロス作曲コンクール・ミクスト作品部門佳作（1位空位3位）。フランス学士院および芸術アカデミーの指名により2016/17年第87代在マドリード・フランス・アカデミー会員。クラングシュプーレン音楽祭（シュヴァーツ）から委嘱を受ける他、フランス国立ロレーヌ交響楽団、アンサンブルTIMF、カメラータ・ストラヴァガンツァ、ムジカ・ユニヴェルサリ、アンサンブル・ルガール、パリ音楽院卒業生オーケストラによって作品が演奏され、ミクスチュール音楽祭（バルセロナ）、アルス・ムジカ音楽祭（ブリュッセル）、サントル・アカント（メッス）、ブルターニュ国際サクソフォンアカデミー、統営国際音楽祭（トンヨン）、武生国際音楽祭、トーキョーワンダーサイトなどで取り上げられる。

他ジャンルとのコラボレーションにも精力的に活動しており、2015年舞踏集団大駱駝艦の委嘱により舞台音楽「阿修羅」、2017年アンサンブル・ルガールの委嘱とSACEM（フランス著作権管理団体）の助成によりダンスと音楽のためのプロジェクト「迦楼羅」を制作。マドリードのレジデンス制作として2017年5月ソフィア王妃芸術センターにてギター協奏曲を発表予定。作品はフランス・ボルドーのEdition Tempérament社より出版されている。日仏現代音楽協会会員。
