Just played this out and thought it sounded good. :)

When morning comes, the sunrise will follow, and then the flowers will  begin to bloom.

I will not go further.

I'm not sure how I even get here. Rift travel is usually by necessity so precise that one can be certain of where they'll end up in the destination universe down to the meter. Here I am though, in this terrible place after some errant interdimensional turn.

I know not if it's its own universe or dimension, or perhaps that void between existences, but it is a cursed zone. Its depths are without limit, its roiling, spinning walls of agitated rust and smoke providing no clue as to its extent.

No sense is given relief. From all directions comes an unending scream. No thing known or unknown could produce such a cacophony; it springs from that which is beyond reality, twisting every part of me into a gnarled knot.

And in the center, the void. The throat that emits that evil sound. A dark chasm of unspeakable, unknowing horror. Whatever calls this place home must surely be the antithesis of all that exists. To linger even for a moment would be to tear away at my very self, to lose what is inherent to me both tangibly and intangibly.

But yet, it's so hard to turn back. I know that no good can come from diving into this abyss, that the unknown is surely every bit as dangerous as the chills that run down my spine tell me it is, but the pull is fierce. I can barely tear my eyes off of it even for a moment. I'm on the precipice and my entire self is screaming at me to just leave, screaming at me as loudly as the screams emitting from that void. An opposing tension tugs equally with its invisible grasp.

It takes everything in me to wrench my eyes from that foulness and rift to a safer dimension. In the few seconds it takes for one to form and my ship to pass into it, I swear I can feel something behind me rush forward at impossible speed, attempting to catch me before I can escape.

But then the cool, pulsing light of the rift envelops me, and the soft heartbeat of a hum soothes me to my core. I've escaped, even if just barely.

I don't know if I could do it again.

THE SECONDS OF DAWN • Ambient Cello Improvisation with Electrosounds

Artifex (noun - Latin): practitioner of an art, craftsman, creator

This track acts as a small case study, epitomizing both my sound and what I try to achieve with my music. I start with a blank canvas and employ the simplest of motifs, a pulse on a single tone. With each subsequent layer I try to add intrigue and detail, giving a direction to the piece and painting a picture for the listener. Each layer is treated analogously to how an engineer would make use of a fundamental principle in their trade, ultimately arriving at something comprised of much greater complexity.  Finally, a simple harmonic structure is introduced, rich and vibrant in tonality, which I attempt to complement through the continued use of driving percussive elements. I intended the final product to feel built from the ground up like a group of architects beginning construction on a monument, only with the brick and mortar and mathematical axioms substituted by sonic motifs.
