The opening track and @Yanl1ng's upcoming 2024 album are titled Cymatic, which refers to the visible patterns created upon matter via their sonic vibratory movements. A way of translating sound waves into visual patterns. These wave-like traces represent the frequencies that our ears interpret as sound. While sound conveys something indescribable, for Yanling, the connection between sound and its visual form symbolizes a deep sense of her inner self. This new work reflects her search for something elusive and intangible—untouchable and out of reach—comparable to an infinite, undulating surge that oscillates back and forth from its origin.

The musical language of Cymatic features extended notes, ambient drones, and sweeping synthesized grandeur, serving as a sound bed for memories that have finally been put to rest. The album's resonant textures produce a radiant vision of a glimmering halo surrounding us all. In contrast, some glitchy elements convey a cold, grainy feeling, reminiscent of the smell of concrete or damp wood. An otherworldly sensation also emerges, akin to the shock from a gust of wind against the flesh or blowing through hair. The album’s celestial overtones point to something immense, evoking a sense of insignificance when gazing into the vast night sky.

Cymatic represents Yanling’s exploration of humility in the face of cosmic amalgamation. The album captures these transcendent images and emphasizes her visceral focus on the cyclical interior and outward impacts of sound. This emotional mark heard throughout Cymatic is further amplified by her outwardly limitless and orotund tones blending vocals with strings, echoing something like ancient messages preserved in stone over time.

"Until we are together again"
In June 2023, I said goodbye to my beloved dog companion after sharing twelve wonderful years together. Spencer was my family, my best friend, a constant force in my life, and a source of pure love. His presence always brought a smile to my face, he was truly amazing and beautiful. His departure made me reflect on the fleeting nature of life and the importance of cherishing the present moment, prioritizing what truly matters, and letting go of the unnecessary. During a period of deep grief, I was tasked with selecting music for the first Aurora event. Immersing myself in this process and performing there provided a much-needed release. The music I chose and played was a dedication to Spencer, evoking feelings of something beyond our human experience. I hoped he could hear it from wherever he was.
It was a way for me to say thank you to him for the love, patience, and companionship he had given me. I am immensely grateful for the amazing life we shared and so proud of our journey together. He will always hold a special place in my heart.

@joachim-spieth is a German DJ, music producer and label owner who emerged musically in the late nineties and has since developed a multi-faceted spectrum of sound between the poles of ambient and spherical techno. Characteristic for his work is the attention to detail and a sensitive sensorium for the creation of atmospheres, which one can hardly escape, no matter if this takes place in his studio work or in his performances.

The cover for the LP, created by artist Nate Flagg, points to this idea in an inscription embedded in the patterns of the artwork. Flagg’s inscription, written in an invented language composed through deep listening methods, translates to “Borne by growshrink light the body blows through the house.” 
After its autumn release on Aurora Edition’s label, the LP’s live iteration will tour with a four-person women-led choir.
