Auroracoustic terlahir mei 2008 di Bandung, didirikan sendiri atas Aulia Akbar, yang sering menulis puisi, lirik, dan membuat lagu sendiri. Sebelumnya, ia memiliki band bernama theLastSunday beraliran
Britpop sejak duduk dibangku SMA, namun ketika band ini bubar, ia memutuskan untuk sendiri menjalani proyek solo berjudul “This Place, I Promise you, I Waited you” yang berisikan dua buah lagu, yakni “Happy Birthday To You” dan “Can’t You See”. Lagu-lagunya sendiri mungkin hanya curahan atau sebuah perangkap memori yang ia buat sendiri, dan bagi pendengar mungkin Auroracoustic cocok didengarkan saat sedang resah, menyendiri, atau disaat yang sama. Auroracoustic memiliki makna dari Aurora dan Accoustic, yaitu aurora berarti sesuatu yang indah dan tersembunyi, dan akustik adalah genre yang ia jalani. Setelah ia semakin mengenal music secara lebih luas, Auroracoustic memutuskan untuk menjalani genre Acoustic/Folk seperti Glen Hansard & Marketa Irglova, dan terinfulence oleh band-band british seperti Oasis, Blur, Radiohead, Coldplay, Belle & Sebastian, Elliot Smith, Beck, Graham Coxon, Elevator Beat, lalu Eddie Vadder, Yuna, Avery Pkwy, dll. Semua lagu ciptaanya berasal dari memori-memori yang ia lalui sebelumnya dalam menjalani kesehariannya sejak masa SMP hingga ke universitas. Bagi kota Bandung, mungkin seseorang yang akustikan sendiri masih asing, karenanya Auroracoustic hanya terdengar dari mulut ke mulut teman-teman kesehariannya saja. Hingga akhirnya Auroracoustic melakukan perform pertama di Gedung Indonesia Menggugat dalam acara Sastra. Dengan masuknya lagu “Illuminate” dalam sebuah kompilasi Secangkir Bintang (buku puisi karya Sinta Ridwan) ia pun mulai dikenal.
