Aurore 404 is welcoming French artist Soufflé Caramel for an EP of jazzy house music cooked during lockdown. The EP “Club de Jazz“ has been composed with his drum machines, synths, and the help of musician friends (pianist, saxophonist, trumpetist), whose performances are heard all throughout the EP. Through his music, Soufflé Caramel is taking us to a New York jazz club in the mid 1960’s and the loungey, airy atmosphere of the EP sets the scene for a record full of smooth-jazz vibes with a soaring affection for the deeper side of things.

After a few months long hiatus, busy throwing their first club night among other delightful adventures, Aurore 404 is back with its second release: Ablutions. 

Kicking off the EP is Yawn by blnd.blld, a young producer from Lyon, currently living in Toulouse, who runs his very own radio show on the meticulous Vandelay web radio. Yawn starts off the EP in a quiet manner, but with a steady beat. This seductive mellow track is sure to warm you up inside out. 

Part of Aurore 404’s residents and with a recent release on Chikyu-u, NairLess, comes from the southern suburbs of Paris with Abalone, affirming his penchant for a deeper and dubbier house track that travels through space and time. With an unafraid bass, hints of tribal drums, and sampling of street sounds, this encompassing sound promises to surround you thoroughly. 

Originally from Haute-Normandie, with recent releases on Valby Rotary and Storytellers, Mryn has a real knack for crafting a lengthy track with utmost simplicity. His neatly-packed contribution to the EP, Dancing Alone, is no exception. Dancing Alone is tempered with a relentless beat and a captivatingly menacing bassline. 

Last but not least is EYO by Aurore 404’s very own Pépé Elle, hailing from Paris, who pairs up with NairLess to produce live music and has had recent releases on Hazed & Confucius and 1980 House Recordings. EYO fleshes out a raw and dynamic soundscape that is fueled up with lilting vocals following a sample-heavy approach and swearing by TR 606 drums.

In Aurore 404’s latest release, the title says it all. Get ready to 'cut a rug' with these dancey and groovy tunes where each track restlessly calls for summer. 

In "Da Mango", the supergroup composed of Coco À Gogo (Tartines Records duo formed by Nuno and John Tareugram) and Colkin delivers deep disco-flavored tones progressively drifting across a spacey soundscape in what feels like a jam session at its peak. 

Carrying the unique Pépé Elle style, “El Profesor” hints at UK Garage with synth-drenched dubstep sounds, complemented by chopped up vocal samples—the kind that is a floor-ready, peak-time treat. 

Atawël’s "Car Stereo" is the broken stereo in your car—or at least the catchier and hypnotically melodic version of it. In this long-awaited track, Atawël integrates cut-up radio frequencies to his mellowed drum programming and the result is a beautifully defiant melody penetrating through the cracks and glitches. Midway through, the radio breaks and restarts, punching in the arpeggios as the final touch. 

Baloonarium’s "Astro Cocktail" leads off with a straightforward driving bassline and a shimmering melody, which then shapeshifts from a more serious tone to a groovier, as the shiny vocals gently breeze in like a beach memory surfacing from afar.

4 tracks that can be described as atmospheric, swinging Electro-Techno hybrids w/ freaky Acid bonus thrown in. 

« Zenk » starts soft, with a calm and light discussion around an organic rolling kick. Progressively, the track evolves into 90s warehouse techno style, drifting across spacey pads and well-thought-out(or “carefully formed” as an alternative adj) breaks.

« Onjoy » leads off with a groovy beat pattern, followed by a deep and saturated acid bassline. Midway through, a shimmering pad in dialogue with chopped up vocals adds height and euphoria to the whole, engaging the listener in a light mysticism. 

Electroesque, raw, and shining with a soft, slightly wavering light, « Lektr »  is an acid track. Opening with a bold break pattern that is accompanied by a jumping 303 bass and atmospheric chords, this track drives one towards a mysterious, catchy, and spacey second half. 

Last track of the EP, the two part « Laksa » carries the listener on a more nostalgic note, yet catchy, dancy and warehouse friendly. Build around a deep breakbeat kick, the track starts with a saturated 909 drum pattern on which drifts a melodic and gloomy pad. Progressively filtered, the beat give way to soft rain, on which the breakbeat pattern rebuilds, driven by three powerful acid lines.

Aurore 404 is back with the 2nd Volume of Cut A Rug, a series dedicated to dance numbers and relentless groovers. All 6 pieces are composed by french artists, their genre oscillating between house, deep house and italo disco. Noise Ark and Chouba are kicking off the release with great house tunes both based on steady groovy basslines. Then, Doublure, with his mesmerizing synth and out of space arpeggiator, smoothly bridges the first and the latter part of the EP.
NairLess takes over to do what he does best: some funky drums and a catchy melody dancing around a solid Morodesque bassline sequence. Then comes S.R who cooked an epic italo burner with a strong old school vibe built around playful synths answering each other - we cannot wait to blast this one on dancefloors, once they reopen.
To end this chapter, Vanderkraft dusts off the Delorean with his spacey ‘Antépénultième’, filled with transporting melodies, bouncing drums and some 303 funkiness to top it all off.
