The attempted coup in Turkey, a key NATO ally and critical partner in the current refugee crisis, also has a religious dimension. This week on Sunday Nights we turn our attention to the man and the movement that Turkey’s President is holding responsible for the coup, Fetullah Gulen.

Thousands of Turks have been arrested following the coup attempt, including lawyers, judges, soldiers, teachers and journalists. According to the Turkish Government they are pawns of Hizmet, or the Gulen Movement as it is known, after its leader-in-exile Fetullah Gulen.

So what is the Gulen Movement? What is the religious message at its heart? And to what extent is it responsible for the present turmoil in Turkey?
