Home at Last

I was feeling really restless wanted something new
Even made little a dolls house but that didn’t do
I thought about it deeply and I read some books
That recommended chooks

So I bought myself some chickens from a local farm
Called them Sybil, Polly , and Manny that had a certain charm 
I made a little chicken coop it took my hours
And called it “Fowlty towers”

There’s a terracotta cat in the courtyard
But he didn’t take that no he didn’t take the cat
I’ve not seen my chickens since yesterday
Cause Murrumbateman’s got a chook thief and he took my chooks away

They had exquisite plumage and little tiny legs
They were friendly little chickens that laid lots of eggs
Every morning I’d collect them as I brought their feed
We were happy as can be

But yesterday when I went out to do my rounds
Everything was silent not a chicken sound
When I opened up the chicken coop to my despair
My little chooks weren’t there

I thought to ease my pain I’d move to Broken Hill
But how could I forget them no I never will
