The Wild West Stand off. Music for a Western

1st take of a new gazey guitar tune. several arrangements in progress.  Played on a 1963 Guild Starfire III,  GLAB SD-1 analog delay, Holy Stain Room Reverb / drive, Carl Martin Comoressor, unto a Behringer ACX1000 electro acoustic amp. Recorded on Samsung SE 20 Phone, mixed in Bandlab.  Hope this one makes the band writing/ rehearsal room!

Auto Defiance - The Long Walk

Spring 2012, Bradley approached a close music friend on a collaboration project who shared the same vision of a proper electro-rock cover...1987 style. 
 Captivated by the raw, live rehearsal setting of a rare New Order video, and seeing them vibe as a band together, recording raw and in-the-moment is a real treat.

The real fun kept going, after this Auto Defiance release, when filmmaker and video production wizzard Craig Ciali really understood the edgy look and feel of our band live (from shooting / directing most of our indie music videos)
   He very much nailed the grainy 80's look and feel on screen of our band performing the tune live at various shows and Festivals.

The electronica was scored by JoeSeph, drummer, producer,programmer and tour manager of Pretty Lights. As the spring turned into summer, and the band was camping out at studios 2 - 3 days each week, finishing their first record, the New Order cover was a favorite of everyone in the band, we cut the drums with Johnny Angel as Sony Tree Studios, Music Row, Nashville, and the rest was history.

Co-writing within the band really leaped forward, as vocalist, pianist, synth, and songwriter, Asheria proved her weight as a solid match, and star artist in her own right.  This first co-write blends Bradley's guitar-driven trademark sound, with Asheira's delivery as one large orchestral band builds the tension all around.

Mostly recorded between Feb.2011 to Aug. 2012 at legendary Fireside Studios Music Row, where many hits were made including Patsy Cline's "Crazy", and Dolly Partons "Joline". Also recorded at The Record Shop, Nashville. Songs Mixed at the world famous Castle Studios, which was built by Al Capone in the 1930's and served as his hideout half-way spot between Chicago and Miami for illegal bootlegging, it also served as an entertainment hall, gambling casino, and speakeasy all in one.


The driving guitar and dancey rhythms parade you through a whirlwind of emotions. The songs speaks of irony and wretched excess of the Hollywood elite, and all those who are addicted to this fame and riches of this glamorous lifestyle.

Scenes from the Golden Age of Film explores the roller coaster lifestyle of the pampered rich, with sinister bits of Film Noir telling the horrors that seem to be amplified within their own fame induced delusions.

Auto Defiance - Heart Attack

Melodic art-rock duo  singer-songwriters Auto Defiance cut their teeth in Nashville, then. The SouthWest. infiltrating the music epicenter with a seductive mix of new wave and indie rock. The five-piece band is headed by lead singer/songwriter Bradley Boyer, who after a stint jumping from high-flying aircraft in the 101st Airborne, decided to morph his musical prowess into one of Nashville’s most beloved rock acts.

Auto Defiance first broke ground in summer ’08, and quickly developed a knack for passionate songwriting with big, atmospheric guitars, sweeping choruses, and evocative lyrics. The band’s influences are apparent, but not overt, with hints of The Cure and early U2.

After the band’s early single “The Ghost Inside Your House” picked up a Billboard World Songwriter Award, and placed in Nashville's 48 hr. film festival, Auto Defiance continued its success with touring, playing over 80 dates in 2012, prestigious gigs at SXSW, and at a number of East Nashville Tomato Art Festivals, art galleries, venues and pubs. The band enhances the moodiness of the songs by performing with vintage film footage flickering larger than life on stage.

Creating enchanting music without boundaries, Auto Defiance playfully blurs the lines between indie pop and post punk. Their live performance is all about telling stories through songs sung by both male and female.

Critics have described Auto Defiance unique sound as, “Sonic gold. A mix between tributes to the 90’s and the neo-Velvet Underground sub-culture present in today’s indie rock music” (Indaba)

Jan. 15, 2013 Auto Defiance released their debut first full-length LP. (Independent and Ditto Music (UK) and Bandcamp.com exclusively.
The album is comprised of tweleve originals, and guest artist Asheira, and a classic cover song that nods to several new wave influences.

After the release, the band plans to continue to tour, new music videos, and take their diverse layered sound rock across the Atlantic to audiences in Europe—never shying away from the opportunity to cross borders and explore new frontiers.
