Open-hearted house and techno from a Minneapolis mainstay who believes in the freedom of music. Autokinetic’s contribution to the series is a brand new live hardware set, featuring all original tracks written and performed by Mike McClure. 

The mix opens with a bird call sample recorded somewhere in the woods of Minnesota by Field Guide co-founder Lauryn Lesley, overlaid by moody chords that wouldn’t sound out of place in a deep house track. Tune in for one hour of warm, spacious, dub-tinged deep techno for the lover in you.

"Some people say that monotony will lead to an artist's dead end. But how can it be that in electronic music the perfect loop disproves this law? Isn't the negative connotation of monotony already the wrong premise? Our entire everyday life, however, varied it may be, is characterized by routines that provide a feeling of security and structure. But most of the time it's the small, unforeseen interruptions that make our monotony special in the first place.

Mike McClure aka Autokinetic has been performing live electronic music since the earliest days of the Minneapolis rave scene. Coming up alongside acts like Freddy Fresh, Woody McBride, and DVS1, his approach to electronic music is unmistakably informed by his long involvement in Minneapolis techno culture. Earlier in his career, Autokinetic produced hard, 909-driven acid and now focuses on deeper, more spacious techno grooves. His full-hardware live performances have an unmistakable after-hours feel that is true to his roots.

Autokinetic's recorded material is often captured in one take, keeping the real-time and human aspects of the music intact. McClure also performs as AutoClub with Craig Lambert (Midnight Music Club). You can find his music on Mistress Recordings, Fixed Rhythms, Electric Music Foundation, Trope Recordings, and Music Man, as well as an imprint co-managed with Freddy Fresh, Analog Records.
