There are so many excellent parties in London, something for everyone you might say. However, Orientate founder John Xie spotted a gap and an opportunity to improve and better the representation of the East Asian community through an eclectic series of nights which showcase leftfield electronic music from across the region.

Originally from the US, the now East London based DJ is creating a place in which he can call home.

From a musical perspective, his background is wide, as influenced by abstract sounds as he is that for the club.

That being said, when it comes to the dancefloor, he has more than a trick or two up his sleeve as the mix showcases. It weaves and wanders between breaks before entering faster territories toward the close.

So after much deliberation I’ve finally decided to upload the recording of my set from Freerotation this year.
I was thinking to edit out the imperfections such as record skipping, or where I had the high pass filter turned up without realising (one reason I don’t get on with Allen & Heath), but instead I’ve left it raw, as it was heard on the night, because the atmosphere was electric, saturday night, smack in the middle of this wonderful festival, the room was going off!!! This is a set I won’t ever forget playing, it’s not perfect and my levels are all over the place, but the recording perfectly captures the magical vibes circulating the dance floor that night, and the strength of this outweighs any need to worry about my mistakes, so here it is, hope you enjoy it as much as I did playing it.

New mixes comes courtesy of Fotini Kappa aka Pasiphae. Those in love with Greek mythology would probably know Pasiphae is the daughter of Hélios and Persé, sister of Éétès and Circé, bride of Minos (king of Crete), and notoriously the mother of the Minotaur ! Also, in old greek, the name Πασιφάη means roughly "the one who shines for everybody".
Born greek but now living in The Hague, a city that clearly inspired her sound. Murder Capital-like but contemporary sounds, mutant alien funk, horror-fired dancefloor dystopia and skewed electronic soundscapes is what she does best. Together with legendary The Hague DJ Intergalactic Gary she produced "Made Of Glass" EP on Paul du Lac’s "Bio Rhythm" label before flying solo with "Siphax" on Interstellar Funk’s "Artificial Dance". Recently you could also discover her on remix duties for cult greek artist Lena Platonos on Dark Entries imprint. More to come for this rising talent and we're glad to have her on board !

DECENNIUM04 - Nullptr (Central Processing Unit)

For the 4th edition of our DECENNIUM series we bring you an artist making huge waves in the Electro world in recent times; Eddie Symons aka Nullptr (Central Processing Unit).

Eddie's first step into the Electro scene came with his debut release as Nullptr on the highly regarded Detroit Underground label. In 2018 he followed this with an EP for Sheffield giants Central Processing Unit, which received airplay on B Traits' Radio 1 show, and gained support from the likes of Jensen Interceptor, Carl Finlow, DVS NME & many more. Another recent release came courtesy of Solar One Music's Between Places sub label, with another selection of modular-fuelled intergalactic Electro. This year has seen Eddie firmly cement his position as one of the greats in the scene with his 2nd release on Central Processing Unit, his 10 track album entitled 'Future World', which has gained huge notoriety amongst the elite in the scene.

In the last few years Eddie has built up his DJing experience, playing regularly at his Motherchip Connexion events, where he is known for playing a diverse range of electro, from dark machine funk to acid-tinged braindance.

It is an honour to have such a bright talent on our series and as we expected, his exclusive set is nothing short of brilliant, captivating us for the entire journey.

DECENNIUM - Nullptr (Central Processing Unit)

Automat started DJing & producing in 1995, starting techno and rave, before heading to an electro stripped with Kraftwerk in line of sight, which draws as much in the original electro, cold techno, acid house or sounds.
