A few things to say.
1. Sorry, this song is a long one: more than seven minutes, too many to expect to have listeners desirous to get to the end of a small marathon. Moreover, it is slow (the first refrain only comes after three minutes or so) and sung in Italian (the English translation is available, but it is never the same thing).
2. The photo shows two actors: Bekim Fehmiu and Irene Papas, protagonists of a wonderful TV series (‘Odissea’) aired in 1968. A show that enriched my childhood and conditioned my imagination (and my reading) forever.
3. I have long wished to be able to write a song about that story within the story of Ulysses' wanderings: his return to Ithaca and his failure to be recognised by Penelope. I succeeded in 1994, then producing a few versions of it. I recorded this one a few years ago, the sound quality was not excellent but now I have taken it up again, singing it all over again and changing the arrangement a little. I hoped at least to recreate an atmosphere musically suited to the story evoked.

This is the 1998 Belgian GP. Absolute carnage at the start. The Jordan boys survived it and we won and got second. I remember Eddie's side on camera shot like a video. No expression. Stunned. No other human being had done this before and will ever do it again. A private team beating all the money! Pure heart! and a bit of luck ☘️ (Brawn GP doesn't count... they developed that car with Hondas money)

This is the 2003 Brazilian GP. We won it again. However Ron Dennis the snake he is tried to bend the rules because of the unsual finish so, wrongly McLaren got presented the trophy... Dennis was a dick! We got the trophy next week when they read the rules on lap count back and finishing the race early because of an accident

This was EJ's third win and in my opinion the most satisfying. This race we won on pace. This race the universe said an Irish man lead a team that built the fastest racing car in the world for that day. That's different to winning with 7 cars left and solidified EJ as man myth legend forever ♾️


After retiring as a team boss... Eddie became the best F1 pundit around. Famous for his inside knowledge he was always the one with the saucy stories haha... Add to that one of the best sense of humours you can get...

Eddie was also a fine drummer and loved his music.

 I remember reading the headline when Senna got taken on teletext... "Senna clinically dead... " I ran to my room and cried on my own thinking I shouldn't be upset about this I didn't know him... Today are my next tears for an F1 legend and I knew enough about him for this to hurt too.

You will be sorely missed Eddie

Speedmike a eu la gentillesse de me proposer ce très joli morceau de guitare afin de poser une voix dessus. L'inspiration au piano m'est venue rapidement ce qui m'a permis d'écrire le texte.
