Scattered across different cities, Ildec, Adrien Calvet, Ragwa, Charleze, and Karaba were each lost in their own world of sound. They had never met, but their music carried the same energy, the same pulse.

Ildec sat in his small apartment, twisting knobs under neon lights, crafting deep, hypnotic synths. Adrien Calvet was in a basement studio, layering drums that echoed the heartbeat of the city. Somewhere else, Ragwa slipped on her headphones, weaving dreamy melodies that felt like an escape from time. Charleze was surrounded by vinyl records, blending old and new with effortless finesse, while Karaba sculpted rhythms that demanded movement, turning beats into pure energy.

They didn’t know each other well, but their tracks found their way onto the same record. And when someone dropped the needle on the vinyl, everything connected. Despite the distance, inside the music, it was always safer—just sound, just light, just the night.

Nació en el hermoso sur de Chile, desde pequeño estudio jazz en la academia del maestro Lecaros, al transcurso del tiempo va poniendo atención a los distintos sonido y diversas corrientes musicales como Rock, Hip Hop, Jazz, hasta encontrarse el 2011, con la música electrónica en la fiesta ARPIAR Tabolango. 

Sus primeras apariciones fueron en radios online, llegando finalmente a la prestigiosa cigarra.fm, en el 2013 aparece un podcast en el sitio mas importante de música undeground, nightclubber. 

Actualmente esta enfocado en su proyecto SECRET SOCIETY un ciclo de fiestas con música vanguardista además de su agencia y propio label, con la aparición de su primer EP junto al Portugués Cleymoore. 

Un gran trabajo musical, han hecho crecer a este joven talentoso que ya es reconocido y respetado por los clubes y artistas nacionales como internacionales.

Su guía música es el gran Ricardo Villalobos, fanático del House y experimentar en la pista crean un set único cada vez que se prenden las tornamesas.

Darween is part of the collective Automatic Writing in Paris together with Jacan & Guillermo Jamas which in turn are the representation of emerging artists in the Parisian scene. 

One could say that my relationship with them started as merely professional but it is surely deeper than that. Having facilitated bookings to their events caught my attention as, like me, they too have a great diversity in their musical taste, they go from Nicolas Lutz to Ion Ludwig to Akufen, an identity which is totally in line with ours at Toi Toi. 

With that said, it is with pleasure that we offer our platform and welcome Darween to present us with this amazing set.

Toi.Toi. Mix Series 26 by Darween

Mike is one of those artists that I don't even know where to start to write about him, it is such an extensive history and one I have so much respect and admiration for. 

Definitely a Dj's Dj, owner of an enviable and unique mixing technique and pretty much an encyclopedia of music, Mike's first time coming to Europe from Canada to play he was as young as 21... as the story goes, he even ends up meeting Florian from Kraftwerk... read on. 

The mix series is very personally dear to me and I like telling stories which connect me to this amazing friends and artists. Sitting at one of the many afterparties with Mike, I asked about the first times coming to Europe and he drops me this story which is amazing! 

Mike  was touring with Jeff Milligan for his second tour in Europe... he was only 21, he was getting picked up at the train station in Dusseldorf with Jeff and the promoter from the Original Ego club (not the one that Solomun would make in Hamburg later) was like "where is Mike??" and he was standing there like.. "I'm Mike".. and she was like really!?   laughing and saying that he was the youngest DJ they ever booked and the youngest person to come in the club! 
Mike was already of course  a little intimidated by the high brow of these Germans, then he was meeting Robert Henke who was in charge of the sound system and then to top things up (as if this wasn't enough to intimidate this kid) - while playing he was introduced to Florian Schnider from Kraftwerk and was, inevitably star struck.. , meanwhile Milligan was laughing at him for how much he was gushing!

Mike has granted the decks at Toi Toi several times, but one of these times it was very dear to me. Him and Lutz for me were (still are) two of my absolute favourites (same generations, the golden 90s, as special as each other in my book) and I had both for my birthday weekend which had a Toi Toi on the Friday, we celebrated Ricardo 10 years at fabric Saturday and on Sunday, we joined forces and got a loft afterparty until Monday! 

So many memories... 

Thank you Mike for all of the above, for being such the great friend you have always been and the badass artist you are, as a dj and producer. Happy Anniversary for the 20 years of Cynosure, this label which gave us so many classics and gems we will keep for life.

Toi Toi Mix Series 31 - Mike Shannon

Hello all, 

Merry Xmas everyone! We thought about giving you a Christmas set and we chose one of our own and a very special recording from this summer. 

The setting was an usual one but under unusual circumstances. Think the Sunwaves beach stage but then think Covid and social distancing. This was a 3 days party under conditions so unnatural to us all. He did the very last set on Sunday and we have,  between organisers, crowd and artists, managed to stick together and via braving through conditions imposed, acquired what was, a remarkable ending. 

He started at night into the dawn and his set followed that exact mood, beautifully structured with such diversity that it gave us all that breath of fresh air and that no matter what happens, we will always find ways to togetherness and dancing. 

Personally for me, this was my last set with them before I left Romania to come back home to London, closing then a beautiful and amazing chapter of my journey in this country that taught me so much and one I love dearly. This artist whom I manage for so many years gave me a sent off carried with pride and fulfilment, from a hard working, constantly evolving artist and person, and for such, one that managed to unify this floor in ways this crisis sometimes leads us to think otherwise. If anything, this is a little reminder that no one will ever stop us dancing and believing. 

Thank you Herodot, thank you Sunrise for braving through this, thank you Romania.
