A música "Why deceive me?" aborda temas de desilusão e proteção emocional. O eu-lírico se sente enganado e percebe que a outra pessoa está apenas jogando um jogo, sem intenções sinceras. Há uma forte sensação de autoafirmação e resistência, onde o eu-lírico declara que está preparado e não se deixará enganar novamente.

Além disso, a repetição de que está "frio" sugere uma defesa emocional contra a dor, resultante de experiências passadas. O desejo de solitude é enfatizado como uma escolha melhor do que estar com alguém que não é genuíno.
