Be For:

There are two definitions to this EP, the first being literally being “for our time”. In the current era of musicians, like myself from London, people tend crave and look to the states for answers and are quick to criticise the music from our own home. Some may disagree – but I speak from experience. This EP is the project that demonstrates there is hope where we’re from and where I’ve come from and we should unite in that. We all have a story to tell. This project is about Truth, Love and Passion.

Before:

The second meaning of this project is its nostalgic presence. This being a story telling project, it is filled with reflecting on situations and life experiences. The whole theme sonically is driven by reminiscence; I wanted to bring the same feeling or something close to the feeling, you felt when Hip Hop was at its peak of greatness and what is said actually meant something. I was born in 1993, and with this project I wanted to give people that same feeling of when music and Hip Hop was appreciated and respected by the masses in the 90's, and bring that feeling back to my home city and the world.

The legendary trio are one of the most well-known and most loved Brazilian exports, still regularly touring, including dates worldwide.

Most prolific during their time signed to Milestone, where they released 10 LP’s between 1979 and 1988.

Osmar Milito e Quarteto Forma - America Latina

‘America Latina’ is taken from the soundtrack to the Rede Globo soap opera "Selva De Pedra”, released on Som Livre in 1972. A cheerful, upbeat MPB song with a killer chorus drop.

Milito began his career in 1964 artists as Nara Leão, Maria Bethania, Vinicius de Morais, Gilberto Gil, Jorge Ben and Elis Regina amongst others. He worked in the USA with Chico Buarque and Sergio Mendes for several years in the 70’s, also appearing alongside artists including Liza Minelli, Mark Murphy, Spanky Wilson and Sammy Davis Jr.

As sampled on Madvillain ft. M.E.D 'Raid', and featured in the Floating Points  and Fourtet Plastic People mix!

I made this in the sky while I was on my way home from Pennsylvania for the Boiler Room Weekender. What an experience! Super grateful for this year and all the wonderful gigs I've gotten to play, amazing people I've met and the beautiful places I've travelled. I'm also very thankful for all of you that continue to support me and my vision.  

I'm working on another mix so hang tight my friends. Hopefully this will keep you company in the meantime.

Australian post-rockers Dirty Three lead into 2012 with "Rising Below" taken from the forthcoming 'Toward the low Sun' album.

It's only been a short 7 years (ahem) since their last album with the new jam proving nothing has been lost over the pages of time.

"Rising Below" staggers itself from a spark to a roaring fire of a folk ballad with entwined violins, softly pattered drums and easily strummed guitars.

Sydney band Underlights have announced the release of a self-titled EP, available digitally this March. Slick electronic pop-soul outfit POLIÇA (pron. Pole-E-Sa) are to release their genre-bending debut album, ‘Give You The Ghost’, out this 19th October on POD through Inertia. Born from the Gayngs collective, producer Ryan Olsen’s latest project teams the tender vocals of Channy Leanagh with the electronic soundscapes and vocals of Mike Noyce from Bon Iver.  

Pulsating with life and raw emotion, ‘Give You The Ghost’ brandishes 11 perfectly formed auto-tuned songs that reform the fusion of pop and digitised R&B. Laced with ethereal synthetic manipulation, the record opens with the hypnotic sonic of first track ‘Amongster’, the two drummers immediately coming into full effect as it builds to a mass of machine gun-like beats, slinky bass and Channy’s wandering vocals.

Born out of the break-up of a recent relationship, the majority of ‘Give You The Ghost’ reflects on the difficulty of making peace; an exorcism via exciting new musical possibilities. “The recurring theme of this record is ‘what in the hell just happened and who in the hell am I anyways’” says Channy. This redemptive mood fuels the track ‘Dark Star’, released online late last year amidst a viral whirlwind. Backed by smooth brass breakdowns throughout and mid-tempo looping rhythms, it’s typical of POLIÇA’s often meditative content, heralding true the addictive refrain “Ain’t a man who can pull me down from my Dark Star”.

When Rolling Stone got Justin Vernon of Bon Iver to talk a little bit about who he'd like to collaborate with in the future, he said "I've been listening to this band Polica from Minneapolis a lot lately, They're the best band I've ever heard."

The Pod version of ‘Give You The Ghost’ will feature a bonus 5 track ‘Dark Star Remix EP’ both physically and digitally.
