With his forthcoming album Dofflin Beach, Danish producer icfam invites listeners into the shimmering, slippery world of dofflin — a bright, futuristic, and mostly forgotten subgenre of electronic music from mid 2010s.

Conceived as the soundtrack to a behind-the-scenes video from an imaginary world tour, Dofflin Beach plays like a surreal travel diary: a jet-lagged superstar wandering from a beach party where “everyone was stang-bacardi,” to a sunrise jam session with bongos, synths, and even synth-bongos. Amongst the dancing people, a digital video camera gets tossed around, capturing the energy in fragments.

“Trying to capture the essence of dofflin is a slippery affair,” icfam admits. Yet on Dofflin Beach he leans into those early inspirations and influences, reimagining them in his own way about a decade later. It’s music that evokes both longing and belonging.

From beach to beach, to the imaginary private jet studio over the open sea, this album is a postcard from a place where dofflins do sing and play.

Virág Réti is a multimedia artist based in Budapest. Since launching her ambient music project in the fall of 2024, she has been working mainly with field recordings and her own voice, shaping natural sounds into quiet, meditative soundscapes. Her debut EP, Minden, ami megmaradt (All That Remains), traces the quiet aftermath of separation and the slow work of rebuilding one’s self. Conceived during a period of severe anxiety, her experimental ambient compositions stitch together singing that dances on the edge between beautiful and haunting; unsteady breathing as a memento of physical tension; and fragmented field recordings collected during walks in Malta—newfound instances of quiet that clarified the necessity of change. Through these sounds, layered with simple and sincere synths, Virág transforms a private crisis into a soft and elegant collection of songs that is minimal and precise in form. And with that, beyond panic, a quiet understanding emerges.

field study is a glimpse into an unknown microscopic alternative reality characterized by visceral (and we mean visceral) electronic yet organic research exercises. The six tracks on the project explore vast untravelled landscapes and slices of undiscovered flora and fauna. These experiments are dizzying and organic - yet extremely physical and hard hitting. field study is a beautiful and crushing series of ASMR glass rivers delivering ancient melodies to floating hydraulic factories.
