Lisbon-based DJ and producer, Enchufada label head, Red Bull Music Academy alumnus and Buraka Som Sistema co-founder Branko is ready to embark on a whole new adventure. The renowned multifaceted artist went on a sonic journey around the world to connect with some of the most exciting music scenes our there, meeting and collaborating with a new generation of artists to create his debut solo album ‘Atlas’ (out on September 4th). After giving listeners a first taste of his exciting new work with Eventually, the globetrotting producer now invites you to listen to the new track Let Me Go (feat. Nonku Phiri & Mr. Carmack) as the album becomes available to pre-order on iTunes today.
 
If Eventually paired up compelling global club rhythms with indie vocals, Let Me Go (feat. Nonku Phiri & Mr. Carmack) further expands on this dynamic by allowing Branko’s trademark pop sensibilities to shine through his dancefloor-ready beats. After spending the day with the talented South African singer Nonku Phiri and L.A.-based producer Mr. Carmack at the Red Bull Studios in Cape Town, South Africa, Branko set out to translate this encounter into a song by pushing the limits of the kizomba offshoot we call zouk bass, introducing some much-needed R&B flavor to this thriving genre.
 
The story of this encounter is translated into an instrumental that reveals lush and dreamy synths dancing around a shuffling 90 BPM beat with an organic feel, built on Branko’s wide-ranging global influences and Mr. Carmack’s unique beatmaking skills, to which Nonku Phiri’s captivating Venda and English vocals add a level of depth and emotion that is further complemented by a bittersweet string arrangement (recorded at Red Bull Studios in New York) - with positively epic results.

Anjundeep present the second EP in the newly founded ‘Explorations’ series showcasing four fresh faces to the label in Amateur Dance, Luttrell, Tontario and Gacha Bakradze.

Opening the EP, upcoming Melbourne based producer, Amateur Dance, with ‘You Give Me Butterflies’; making his Anjunadeep debut earlier this year with a highly rated remix of Way Out West’s ‘Tuesday Maybe’.

Next up, Luttrell ‘Away', giving a taste of his first solo project on the label while taking a moment from notable Stateside success as part of California duo The M Machine.

Tontario, a young Finnish producer from Vaasa, has been making waves in recent months in the blog world with his signature melodic sound, as shown on ‘Late’.

Rounding off the EP with ‘Girl’, talented Georgian producer Gacha Bakradze. While releasing under three different aliases, Gacha has built an impressive back catalog with albums on the iconic Apollo Records and most recently a well received EP on Andre Lodemann’s Best Works Recs with support from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac.

It’s the crate digger’s dream or nightmare. The modern day musical archaeologist is always in search of that elusive piece of a musical puzzle. Dusting off a slice of unknown vinyl or a mystery tape in a battered box might just open up another chapter of discovery that illuminates the art of the people. Enter 180 Proof’s Amir Abdullah who, since 2010, has been getting dusty digits sifting through the master tapes in the Strata studio in Detroit. It’s there that he discovered and was blown away the voice and vibe of TJ.
“I came across the TJ demo tapes back in 2012 when I secured the exclusive license to the whole Strata Records catalog,” explains Amir who plans an imminent release of the four tracks on 10” vinyl in conjunction with BBE Records. “My first response to hearing the demo was WOW! Frankly, the sound quality was not good but the soul and passion of the music was unbelievable. I immediately thought about a young Shuggie Otis when hearing the songs.”
As with the rediscovery of Shuggie Otis’ ‘Inspiration Information’, by the likes of Gilles Peterson back in the 90’s, there are always questions to be asked. With Shuggie Otis there was lineage plus the image of a hip young guy with a big ‘Fro and acoustic guitar. Two decades on he’d simply dropped off the radar. What happened? With TJ there’s only the tape and says Amir, “There was no info on the master just the name TJ. I don’t know when the TJ was recorded at all. The strata catalog is from 73-75 and it’s one of many recordings that were recorded but never released. I sat on the music for three years because I couldn’t afford to clean it up and re- master it properly until now.“
“As the Strata curator, I felt that this recording def fits in with what the Strata catalog is about. The soul and passion of the lyrics are heartfelt. As you can hear, most of the songs are about love. The raw form of just him, a guitar with vocal layers is so rough but it def represents the grittiness of the sound of Strata. I think the TJ represents what the Strata mottos were about: ‘The Sound of Detroit’ and ‘All Musics For All Peoples’. What makes me want to release this in its raw and rough form is that the genius of this recording cannot be denied. I hope that TJ somehow hears that the recording is out. I would love to give full credit to him and the musicians.”

TJ - Reach For The Sky

The sixth instalment of the Allo Love series is our first collective effort, coming as it does from the combined musical mind of Leeds / London based electronica outfit Paper Tiger. We could bang on about how this is our favourite Allo Love compilation so far; how it contains more exclusive tracks than any of its predecessors and how it's an almost seamless journey through melodic downtempo and dance floor delights, but we thought we'd let Greg Surmacz from the band explain for himself! 

"We were honoured and delighted to be asked to curate this release - the label has such a diverse and high-quality catalogue that narrowing down our choices was a tough process. However, one of Wah Wah 45s' defining characteristics is always pushing forward, always innovating: so in that spirit, we decided to compile as much brand new music as possible for the album and make it a 'family and friends' affair. 

There's an exclusive new Paper Tiger song; a debut release for our bassist Sam Vicary's amazing Hunrosa project; a debut by Chrome Glaciers (my new project with fellow Yorkshire artist Bambooman); new music from our DJ/producer Adam Radley (aka Vital) and frontman Raphael Attar, plus exclusive tracks from some of our favourite new producers. The catalogue picks are also a nod to the Wah Wah music which has influenced us - Bonobo, Dele Sosimi, Gene Dudley and a mega blast of Kanye from Scrimshire's monstrous Hackney Colliery Band edit. 

Most importantly of all, we wanted the release to hang together, to feel like a coherent album that illustrates our taste as musicians and listeners. Hopefully we've achieved this and produced something which provides an insight into all of our work, but can be enjoyed on its own terms!"

Rain Dog has spent the last couple of years experimenting with production software, building speakers, composing music, making beats out of various small bedrooms scattered across the north of England.

After his highly acclaimed debut album “Two Words” in 2014, Rain Dog is back to deliver his sophomore full length ‘There Be Monsters’. Avoiding the plight of the second album and keeping his signature sound while also not repeating himself, the album is the result of years of work, scrapped previous projects and simplifying his writing process and gaining experience by creating soundtracks for Vice Documentaries. Each track has particular relevance to a point in Sam Evans life over the last few years.

Today, we exclusively premiere the LPs collaboration with Finn Ryder, entitled 'A Scarecrow's Heart Is Made Of Straw'.
