Profound, informative and deeply spirited chat with a fellow Ghanaian sister, Jocelyn Yeboah-Newton.   Jocelyn is a Gender consultant, founder of art/healing organisation Our Naked Truths, and The Communion Podcast. She is a protector of intersectional black femininity, and an explorer of the mental health issues that come with that intersection. Jocelyn is also training to become a therapist herself.   We unwrapped many issues, including: what collective healing looks like, life modelling and black femme bodies as the muse,  the meaning of sisterhood, sexual trauma and mental health struggles that black womxn face, and what's good on Netflix right now.

​People have used songs to make meaning and form culture since humanity started in Afrika. When we sing together, our breathing and heartbeats synchronise and we can experience a connectedness that goes beyond words.

A hello from Collective Futurism...
Helllooo... we are Collective Futurism! We are a newly formed collective of black and brown women, femmes, and non-binary individuals. We are a beautiful interdisciplinary mix of community facilitators, initiators, activists, and artists. We all share a commitment to social change and liberation within our communities, and in many ways, we are still in our incubation phase. We come together online and in person and initiate play—moving, singing, and creating together alongside ancestral wisdom to embody who and how we want to be for ourselves and for each other.

This singing circle was initiated by Collective Futurist Ava, who ran one in January. It left us energised and tingly for weeks after...So when they suggested that we host this as a collective on the eve of the longest day of summer, how could we resist?!
