Enigmatic Japanese producer Shinichi Atobe evokes a range of sensations in his music that few others can. Whether he's listened to in headphones on a long journey, on the sofa on a lazy Sunday, deep into an afters or during a peak time reprieve, the rich, vivid strokes of his heady work has equal power to relax, heal, move, energise, envelop and flaw. 

Another scholar of patient tension-building in electronic music, Prins Thomas included Atobe in the footnote homage of his sixth album, alongside luminaries from all sounds and ages. As a mark of how much Atobe's work has impacted on his own, Thomas has paid tribute with an hour mix.

A lot has changed for Jack Hamill aka Space Dimension Controller since he last graced the wheels of steel at (the first ever) AVA Festival, breaking the internet with his unforgettable Boiler Room debut. In the years since, Hamill has been on a journey just as much as we have. After over a decade in the game he’s quit alcohol, launched a new record label, Tiraquon and streamlined his entire production process. 

Lock in for an hour of out of this world house and techno from the back of the cosmos. It's a blend of intergalactic bleeps and bloops that contrasts the personalities of Space Dimension Controller and the new-age of Tiraquon.

Hey Friends! Happy to share the recording of my closing set at my favorite campout gathering, Diane's Hunting Club. This campout is a place to stretch out, lose track of time, meditate on the many beautiful leaf fractals, share old favorites, new treasures and things that don't always fit for a dance floor set. I love these few days in the woods with friends, everyone contributing to the collective joy in their own way! Orphic, the London based duo made up of Phonica's Kieran Jandu & Babak Faraji join us for the latest Friends & Family Mix. These new talents have been bubbling up in the East London Underground. They recently joined us for a banging in-store for the launch of their Shelter EP on E2-E8 Records, which explores the depths of techno. A four tracker which moves through deep, dubbed-out moments to big-room offerings and vibrant, sophisticated electronics, rounded off with a remix from Bunker and Clone affiliate Marco Shuttle. Their Friends & Family mix gives us a glimpse into their musical influences and gives a look into their record bags. We sat down with the Orphic duo and had a brief chat about the mix, their approach to DJing and their plans for 2023.

Joey Anderson remains committed to the deep rooted sensibilities of House music, it's very much in his DNA - drawing upon influences from the underground of New York city. Over the years he has released some of the most influential records in the genre - EP's on the likes of Latency, Syncrophone Recordings and Deconstruct - albums on the likes of Dekmantel and Avenue 66.

This month marks the release of a new album on Deeptrax.

His sound has always been cemented in a deep, philosophical energy. It's music as much for listening, ambience and mood as it is the dancefloor.

Over the years his music has gone on to reach critical acclaim and gained international recognition but it is his home city and the origins of the musical culture from which he draws strength, not the hype or social media circus.

Not one to dabble in eccentricities his music is stripped back, utilising uniquely programmed machinery to create delicate textures and weird dusty tones which often lead to a unique transcendence.

Joey is an artist we've been keen to feature in this series for a long time now and the result is just as special as we could have imagined...
