shtum’s latest artist is none other than Avalon Emerson, who hits hard with her first appearance on the Dresden-based label with a record full of techno beauties. “Constantly My Cure (Vocal Mix)” features vocals by Avalon herself that ride on an unstoppable acid-driven bassline towards a forceful and paradoxically cold yet warm climax. “Constantly My Cure (Plan Around Me Dub)”, offers an instrumental redux that's less ambiguous in its intentions — this one's aimed straight for maximum dancefloor effect. "Sword and Rose Forever" shows once again that she knows how to create relentless club music imbued with beautifully bittersweet atmosphere. The EP closes with the punch of "Hurdy Gurdy DJ Tool," a break-laden machine-piston of a rhythmic workout that's made for those selectors who want to set fire to the floor and jam the energy up to a frenetic peak.

"This Is The Girl" is the sound of a late night Los Angeles freeway drive. You speed past the downtown skyline with its anonymously lit windows, chasing spectral taillights in the distance, not knowing or caring if you'll catch them. Blue and red flashing lights speed past you on the other side, in pursuit of someone else. On you drive. We're speeding away from all of it, getting far away from all of those people, those places, and those things. Someplace different. Hit the lights. We're going into the woods.
This is the first cut from Brooklyn-born, Los Angeles-based DJ/producer Jimmy Maheras on his new label. Co-founder of "Plastic Love", Maheras reveals its shadowy counterpart with Into The Woods.
Detroit-based Jared Wilson handles remix duties here on the B-side. Deep acid bomb to say the least !

R&S founder Renaat Vandepapeliere launches a new series RV Trax, to reflect the sound of his DJ sets and to give a platform to artists not based on social media likes or online hype.

Re-invigorated and inspired by contemporary dance floor sounds, after 30+ years as the label owner and figurehead Renaat succumbed to the temptation to finally, at the tender age of 60, try his own hand at rocking the crowd.

Renaat's sets have seen him assemble a treasure trove of unreleased music that will now find a very personal home on RV Trax. Emblazoned with the Belgian national colours of black, yellow and red these tracks proudly flaunt their 'floor-filling dynamics.

The first, a dance floor stormer from Steve Legget, remixing fellow North Easterner Bird Of Paradise’s original - a tight punchy workout that pairs distorted 909 kicks against a high tension string part and melancholic synth pads. G-Prod (AKA French brothers David and Nicolas Gaugain) provide a balmy, motor-city style number - shuffling drums underpin sunrise synth washes and euphoric melodies. Buenos Ayres' Hermetics provide a frostier mood with ‘Collider’ - chilly FM bells pinned against serrated percussion and swirling distortion

Ara Koufax (Sam Gill and Luke Neher) have made music and videos together in Melbourne, Australia for over a decade.

Their latest EP follows a string of two-track releases through Cutters Records, CSCN and Fort Romeau's Cin Cin imprint.

'Sweet Pitch' forgoes utilitarian club tracks. Instead, facsimiles of techno, fake trance, uncanny-valley breaks, shuffles, and disembodied voices find their home in a spacious ambient soundscape. It's a compilation of music that never happened.
